So f—ing anxious and scared about the layoff. Don’t wanna lose my job and then sleep on the street since there’s literally no way to get a job now. Every company has the hiring freeze in place if you ever talk to employees in other companies.
So to the people who say they are eager to leave, please tell your manager that you want to leave. I am pretty sure they will be happy to let you go, and the people who want to stay will be happy too. Thank you in advance.

I’ve been laid off twice from Wells since October. Recently May due to COVID. I just started another contract position with reduced pay so get ready for more layoffs
I think you forgot to mention "down by the river."
Start saving and cutting expenses. Get a van or something to live in if worse comes to worse.
To @vce- If you are really over the hill then see if you can afford to retire early. Otherwise, ditch that mentality and figure out what it is going to take to stay employed. I know you may not be interested in going back to school but your skills need to be current in order to be competitive. If everyone in your circle is over the hill, you need not look to them for job advice. Go online and see what is out there for yourself.
I agree, there are tons of jobs coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Like was said, spend 2 hours weekdays working on this and a few hours on weekends. Apply to all the jobs you can, play the numbers and give the recruiter the money you want to make. If they try to low ball tell them what you are looking for and to see if they have other jobs in your pay range. If you do this daily you will get a job before you know it.

You should be scared. If you a long timer. There isn’t a REAL Bank job that you qualify for. Some of the positions in Wells don’t exist in other banks. The one thing you do all day is automated. In the real Banking world. You are held accountable to get the job done. Start to finish. You can’t hide for years doing nothing or knowing nothing. IT IS WHAT YOU KNOW not WHO YOU KNOW.
This is good and encouraging advice, but where exactly are all these good paying jobs that you speak of? What companies?
Everyone in my circle believes that most of the jobs within the banking industry will be lost to AI within the next few years. I don’t know what other industry my skills would transfer into, and the thought of going back to school and starting all over in a new industry isn’t very appealing when you’re over the hill.
Focus on what you can control. Put a plan together and make it your full time job to get a job. This takes about 2 hours a day and you will find lots of good paying jobs. I’d suggest having your resume professionally written and spend some time getting your LinkedIn profile really polished. Pay for a LInkedIn subscription as it allows you to tell recruiters you are looking for a job. Lastly, network with everyone you know and let them know you are looking for you next job.
I’ve noticed that many companies are starting to pick up the hiring pace as I’m having several recruiters contact me about jobs.
Having a plan and work your plan. It will help relieve some of your anxiety knowing that this will be temporary and a better job/company will hire you soon. Keep your head up.

Keep this place out of your mind, but you will need to update your skills for sure, the type of work here is obsolete. Just do non stop interviews, apply to all jobs in your area and forget this place, it may not make it at all.
Get out there, market yourself, and find a new job. May I suggest reading "48 Days to the Work you Love" by Dan Miller if you are in mid-career roles/junior roles ? If you are in management roles an additional suggestion is "Rites of Passage" by John Lucht. Do it now. Wells Fargo does not care about its customer and its employees. If you drop dead today, you will be replaced tomorrow.
Pick yourself up, get motivation tapes from library and/or motivational books too.....
Dust yourself off, polish the resume and get out there Mortimer and Sell....you have to sell yourself.
If you still can’t figure it out, go take a marketing course at community college, to learn how to market yourself.
You only have X years to build a nest egg, then it’s living under the bridge time.
Do not let fear paralyze you. Get out there and hustle for a new job while you still have a job.
I got offer and new job!!!!! Who cares about lay-off , this is career ending job. Work is from 1901. I can see why they are in trouble, they haven’t updated anything since place opened.
It won’t work. They couldn’t care less who wants to stay and who wants to go. In fact, I’ve seen them keep people on who have asked for packages, and then bully them into quitting. It’s one of the ways they get rid of people without paying severance.
