Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Any layoff updates in Technology?

My group is in a disarray from so many ppl quitting. No mention of mid year reviews at all. What are other tech folks experiencing?

If you got a "Needs Improvement", you are purposely being put at the bottom of the bell curve (with 1s and 2s).

They are trying to fire you for just cause, with no severance and no unemployment insurance (to save $$$).

Beware...it's happening all over WF this mid-year season.

After having been given a year end "Needs Improvement" review I have decided to change my Wells Fargo work style to stop spending my weekends volunteering to work overtime, for no extra pay, on special projects where they ask for weekend volunteers. Someone else can do it instead. How many times in the past I have done this with no thanks, except for once. Also not spending 1/2 my PTO days working overtime to ensure what I am currently working on moves forward on time. Also not planning to work until 1 AM again to ensure what I am currently working on moves forward on time, much due to waiting on other employees to do their part in the project. Not really motivated all that much, after the "Needs Improvement" review when I was spending so much weekend and late nights working when I was not scheduled to do so.

Your manager will tell you. If it’s like year end reviews, you will be given a document with your rating and what it was based on. You then acknowledge your rating ona website.

I am new to the company. Where can I see what rating I am given?

Why dont these managers just rate everyone how they actually performed. Its ridiculous some people let others talk them into doing wrong things. Just like the fake account scandal.

My technology manager has been asked to do stacked midyear reviews (you get a 1 up to a 5 rating). He warned us ahead of time that some of us have to be marked as needs improvement or something along those lines. He was directed to do that and he isn't happy about it. Steve Hagerman (who reports to Saul) said in his call this morning (or at least what I got from it) that a committee that includes him is being put together to determine the expense and layoff strategy. That will probably take some time to put together, knowing WF management, but not sure how much. He said he wasn't given a timeframe for completing anything except there is a tech hiring freeze unless absolutely necessary.

Maybe they're just planning to lay us all off. So no need for pesky reviews. Lol

Mid year is due July 31st across the bank including stack rankings so I’m surprised you haven’t heard anything yet about your mid year review.

There was a WIMT all hands call today and they glossed over it without really addressing the topic. Either they are on the block or just poor leadership communication. “There are other ways to cut costs than just layoffs”. Okay, like what? Explain your strategy, nope hey lets now give you some Agile overview.... nice
