Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Is it better, Retail?

It is time to stop swallowing & put the Kool Aid down, Retail. How much money is one team going to cost your family by the end of the year? By the end of next year and beyond? How much ? Real dollars? All the hours away from your families. After doing all the right things. After following the leaders and doing everything that they ask. Change after change after change, all supposedly for the better. Really? Is it? Is it all really going to be better for you and for your family? Is it going to somehow be better because management is telling you that it is going to be better as they barely take the Kool Aid away from their lips long enough to tell keep repeating the loop? Don’t they almost choke as they tell us that it is going to be better? Do they really know? Or do they really know and it is actually so bad that they are just waiting to the last minute because they do know how bad it will be for individuals and they are just dreading the day that they have to begin having those conversations? They talk and talk but in the backs of our minds we all know better and so do managers. A lot of time and money is spent on the “pro employee” propaganda that is a constantly loop repeated as they try to stop what they fear most, contending with unions on a larger scale. They continue to repeat that loop being that we will just begin paying union dues and place a barrier between us and managers and complicate what is not currently complicated. Really? Is it not complicated now? Does the current structure really let our voices be heard when it comes down to what really matters? Do our voices truly have any impact? It has appeared for the most part that unions time of value had passed years ago. As more changes continue to take more money out of our family’s bottom lines though, are unions really any worse than changes like are coming in August? How much money is your current ability to talk directly with managers preventing any of the money from coming out of your family’s bottom lines due to changes like are coming in August? Maybe a union could not influence and prevent any such changes either. Educate yourselves and make your own decisions based on what is best for your family and your family’s’ bottom lines, just like corporations do.

Hard working solution specialists that “made more than the Gm” were rightfully compensated. GMs before covid didn’t do anything, and as soon as their duties lighten they will go right back to do nothings. Sorry love you my GM, just speaking facts. Already more and more of a push to control the SS. Shame on Director and up.

Entry level reps at a retail store shouldn't make more than their bosses. If you made bank "back in the day," good on you. Now you actually have to promote to make more. Says a lot so many people are daunted by that notion.

As for the union comment, I have a buddy who works for AT&T and is represented by the CWA. No thanks, he's one of their more tenured reps and makes less than my new hires.

Verizon will do what is best for Verizon. Plain and simple. Do what is best for you and your family. I am also taking a large pay it and am disappointed by this, but it has been coming for a long time. Now our jobs are to teach customer how to shop on the app and online. No touchless? Get ready for hell. That’s what this job in retail is now. Let’s hope they offer a package. That’s what I am hoping for.

Had we unionized 5 years ago, or even 3 years ago, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re currently in, which involves leadership relentlessly beating us with metrics and goals. Union dues pale in comparison to the money that Verizon has stolen from us, not just in commissions, but base pay increases, benefits, etc.

It doesn’t matter! Commission is what commission is. They didn’t change the structure to pay us more they never do. So anyone being told we will make more is a fool. It’s not the structure that s—ed it was the goals. You think suddenly now we’re one team they aren’t going to f us on goals, hell no. We I’ll have to deliver on sales and at some point 90% ris just to get paid. This change was to ABSOLUTELY to pay out less commission.
