Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

TikTok on company devices

Do we really have to tell some employees to remove TikTok from company mobile devices? To me, that should be an automatic negative mark on an employees record if not grounds for dismissal. I’m not commenting for or against TikTok, but about company devices only being used for company business. I thought that was a policy. Am I missing something?

What id–ts are putting non-approved apps on corporate devices? They tell you that upfront and it is in the annual training. They should do more than a slap on the wrist but they probably will not.

Anyone who’s surprised an employee would have TikTok installed on their work phone hasn’t worked at the branch/banker/HMC level or with these people. Some of them are wonderful, but the majority are complete mo–ns... if anyone deserves to be laid off it’s these id–ts.

I thought the same thing when I saw the announcement. And then I wondered, how many people would have to download this for the company to send a company wide statement addressing it? Like have that many people downloaded this?!?

Hilarious. Just like the branch that did an UNAUTHORIZED flash mob dance after hours inside a bank branch and posted it to Twitter, IG and FB.

Some people are just plain stupid.

They deserve to get fired.

If they want to base layoffs on who has TikTok installed, that's fine by me! The news today seems pretty clear about big layoffs so that is the least of my worries right now. I shouldn't actually have wasted time responding now that I think about it.

It does make you question the quality of the people we’re hiring and who we are trusting with corporate devices. All the more critical because we are in the financial industry. And even more alarming, as @iqk pointed out, our Information Security team never thought to question it or isn’t tracking what employees are downloading on corporate devices. My mind is blown.

I frequently counsel employees to act as if their manager sees everything they do on any work issued device. And I frequently deal with employees who either don’t get that, or don’t think their manager would mind what they did.

Policy is really clear- only WF approved apps on WF devices. Not really a lay-off based issue...unless WF has thousands of employees with TikTok or other unapproved apps on company devices.

The fact that the bank cant properly secure their own devices is pretty telling.
