Here’s a suggestion to increase employee morale. Don’t send out company wide email touting record profits right after we announce a 1.5 percent merit increase budget. I know that is obviously not the case now but in the past you want to know what sent morale in the tank??? We made 5.6 billion in net income for Q4 . Congrats. We will give you a 1.5 percent raise. Hey. Maybe 2 percent for the “ superstars”

Anybody remember team member connection surveys? When the results came in we would be broken up into small groups, berated for making our managers look bad, and tasked with coming up with “action plans” to boost our happiness.
This is how we spent our time instead of - you know - working. Priorities, people.
Wells doesn't care about morale.
If they did, they'd get the layoffs over with and then tell everyone still standing they're going to be fine. They'd say "we did what we had to do and we're done".
They can't actually do this, becuase they're inept AF, and too far removed from the people that do the actual work.
I haven't had a day where I logged in happy to get to work in a few years now, and while I try not to let it get to me, I know I am not doing my best work, because Wells has failed to give me any hope that we're not still a giant crime ring or that upper and middle management has any clue.
Let's be realistic. Banks as well as other companies are not doing too well in this Covid economy. They don't care about employee morale; as a matter of fact, they want employees to be miserable and leave. Saves them effort and money in terms of layoffs and severance. Boosting employee morale was initially an effort to keep employees from leaving and to help increase productivity. Now it is considered a frill.
