I’ve never understood why some employees waste time on getting a “nanodegree” from the company rather than getting a bachelors degree from an accredited university. Most jobs require you to have a degree from an accredited four year university. A nanodegree is looked at like a high school diploma. Please explain why people do this rather than getting a bachelors.

Most companies require you to have a bachelors or masters from an ACCREDITED university. A “nanodegree” is a joke. Literally. People who waste time on that are truly wasting their potential.

Why is that? Just like Rome the mighty T Empire is falling. Maybe could have learned something from history, like T always fails at buying other companies, they buy high and sell low.
You are comparing apples to oranges. A nano degree will give you an introduction to the subject. If you don't use the skills in your job then the degree was as useless as taking the Study of the Roman Empire in college.
Nanodegree just means you're trying new things. Don't do it in hopes of avoiding a surplus or that it'll land you a new job; do it as an excuse to do something new.
If you stayed there wouldn’t be much of a future anyways, Randall, Stinky and the Board saw to the demise of a great company. Living on borrowed time.
I have two more semesters until I complete my Bachelor of Science. I’m working at ATT until I graduate and then I’m gone. I actually have an interview next week with a company who is looking for seniors in college who will be graduating soon. My advice: get your degree and leave AT&T. Your future children and spouse will thank you for it.

A nano degree is completely useless at Stanky's AT&T. What you really need to stand out from the crowd is an H1b Visa.
A nano degree is an indicator to management of how well they can steer their employees.

I have a masters and nanos. The nano degrees are a free way to learn new skills. They are skills you can apply at ATT or other places if you leave.

Ah, having a nanodegree did not keep anyone from being surplussed the last several years. ..I know plenty that were shown the door. Has nothing to do with anything.
Bachelors? I have a Masters of Science and that did not make any difference when the time comes you are gone.
Now if you don’t have a BS or an MS degree and you can get tuition reimbursement, yea go for it, as it will be recognized by other companies.
A nanodegree won't help you inside AT&T and outside as well, unless you can get a few years’ experience in applying the nanodegree. And good luck in getting those jobs inside AT&T unless you have an H1B and will work 80 hours a week for half the pay.

I don't believe a nanodegree is a replacement for an undergraduate degree but rather a way to demonstrate that you have relevant updated skills in a focused area.
