Did anyone see the NEWS NOW Return to Workplaces email yesterday? Under the Capacity of our Workplaces section, it said “...we are reducing occupancy levels in our buildings by nearly half to accommodate for social distancing. This means we anticipate many employees who are working from home today will continue to do so most likely through the end of the year. “

Be careful what you wish for. Permenanr WFH also means why do we need to pay the expensive salaries of our employees when we can hire cheaper employees who WFH from places like Ohio ,Kansas , or Tenesee etc or go a step further India or Easter Europe.

I work outside maintaining the plant. Most of my customers follow me everywhere talking about everything, with and without face masks , because they have been cooped up for 2 months. I always end up telling them that iam trying to maintain social distancing . Then a light bulb goes off above their head and they back up, but they dont leave and go in the house, they keep on chattering. I know that I will never be picked as a company hero in the emails that go out to all of us , but thats ok because iam fighting for my life, not a feel good company fluff piece on company loyalty !

First, thanks to all you frontline folks for all you do, keep safe.
Huge employer liability issues with covid 19, federal and state regulations will need to be to clarify the requirements. Some politicians want to give business a pass and protection, as if exiting arbitration and employment laws aren’t enough of a burden for the little guys. You don’t have to my word for it, just look at case precedents corporate lawyer’s pay.
Many of us can work remote and do our jobs. This isn’t going to be some VP on a ego trip mandating people back to the office, it has been tried. Lives are on the line and many unknown, and potential lawsuits. You can be sure that all fancy suits in Dallas have determined the risk isn’t worth it, at least for the time being, will see how it will last.
Exactly, why not wfh permanently like twitter and FB. ATTalways trails others. Slow and old company hard to adapt.
I'm an outside tech and can't work from home, couldn't even home garage because my bucket truck wouldn't fit in my driveway, but I hope & pray you inside folks get to WFH as much as you like. Traffic is so much lighter, so much safer, the environment is even better. I have talked to some of you on the phone at your homes & are so much more pleasant. All I see is upsides to WFH.
Why don’t they just let us permanently.....like Twitter and Facebook?? If we have been doing our job at home for 2 months, why not permanently?
