Core and Prem/Wire techs were already merged last October. TFS and IEFS are no longer. You are all in the same organization now which is AFO - AT&T Field Operations. Just go check Webphone and look at your chain of command and the direct reports under your AM. You’ll see Core-outside, Core-Inside, DTV (Prem/Wire Techs) and UFO - Prem/Wire techs all reporting to the same AM now. They haven’t announced when integration at the network manager level will happen at an organizational level, but it is already happening on an as needed basis. As far as prem/wire tech titles “merging” with Core tech titles, you can forget it with a capital F. Not going to happen.

Yes, but only in the aspect of managers managing a team made up of Wire_Prem Techs and Core combined. Each maintaining their titles and duties. Happening now, SE Florida.

They will be merged in job duties eventually, but contractually prem techs will still be junior appendix technicians with lower pay and lack of a full contract. WTG union - this hurts core and prems in the long run!

NO WAY, they have Avg 45 years experience under their belt, POTs and Saga Splicing, No one can't compete with that!!

I would think any “merging “ will happen after the surplus activity.

Look for the company to off load rural pots. No more crews of 15 working on the “Cable packages” all the time. The transformation group has sniffed out the fact that some areas do nothing but rehab on the same underused copper plant. If you are a manger or tech who’s bulk of the work day is spent creating packages or cable failures you have backed yourself into a corner. They have figured you out. Watch as cable rehab hours are cut due to not meeting financial requirements. If your crew works 600 useless routines a month you brought this on yourself.

For those TFS in middle of nowhere working don’t worry you can probably keep a job if you are ready to move to a metro area to work on Uverse till it is completely sunset.

As far as Uverse prepare for the sudden lack of work. The company will hope that you can’t afford to stay. Once they force the TFS they want into Uverse they will then shut down the platform.
