I know this post won’t fly over well with some true “company” people but, just remember, don’t let ATT control your life and your future. You owe it to yourself and your family to control your own destiny. Be proactive not reactive. Save up, and move on.

I was at AT&T for about 12 years. Got laid off in 2018 and got a heavily taxed severance. I did love AT&T while I was there but hated the constant rumors of layoffs. It didn’t seem like it at the time but the best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off and now have a job that pays 30% more and I love it 10 times more. Much better benefits too. There is great hope after AT&T, believe me!

I had many great years with SBC, but the last several I checked my M75 countdown clock at least once a day. I will never miss that place and what it has become.
Good for you you won’t regret it. I left after 18 years with kids in college and I got more money and my skills have been growing ever since. Been to two companies so far and they are night and day from att and I am SO much happier than just sitting around waiting for the holy grail of six months pay.

Good for you. Not everyone is in the same situation though. Those of us here with 20 or more years with kids in college may not have the flexibility of a young whippersnapper like yourself. I want to go too. But I make really good dough. I am at a point in life where I need that max income. In a few years I will be fine with less. Hoping to make it until then. If not, I want my severance, I am not willing to walk away from it.

Congrats!! I’m about to do the same. There are so many great companies out there that don’t micro manage and treat you like a kid. Good job and hopefully I’ll follow shortly behind you.
