Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Talking from both sides of his mouth

Wow, Stinki by Saying, "Still- the company paying down debt remains a top priority. "The message we really we want to give to you right now is that we can continue to invest and continue to paying out our debt, continue to pay our dividend and continue assessing our liquidity on a quarerly basis."

Dividend or not dividend, AT&T is still a great company to invest in. A well run company.

Stankey has no choice but to keep the dividend. They sold the investors on a nice dividend. If there are dividend cuts you will see a mass exodus of investors fleeing for better opportunities. They had some opportunity to better navigate the market over the past few years, but the decision to go into more debt with DTV and TimeWarner destroyed they ability to quickly turn the ship. I'm not fan of Stankey but he has little choice here. As a T share holder I expect the dividend to remain. Even the slighted hint of it being cut will give me reason to invest elsewhere.

Big Stink holds dividends sacred but considers employees to be a disposable annoyance standing in the way of an even bigger salary for himself.

Welcome to America.

"Talking from both sides of his mouth" One of the first items they learn in management school along with forget your morals.

CEO's get a large percentage of their salary in stock. This links their success & revenue to the dividend. It gives them a bigger bonus, it would make no sense for leadership to reduce or eliminate it. Its a win win situation for Leadership and the board and that's why the salary is structured in this format.

This setup hinders innovation and the stock price. Just look at how IT companies are always pushing the envelope. They push the stock up by constantly trying to find new channels of revenue, new products and services. T is not in that category, leadership may change but the plan is the same

I like what I hear from Stankey. He is watching out for workers, investors, everyone. An amazing leader. An amazing executive. I'm feeling very good about the company. The next 6 months are going to be super exciting. Like it's never been before. Just wow.

Clueless people trying to tie dividends with layoffs. Laying off because there isn't work for you. What else are you gonna do with those workers?

Of course reducing that precious dividend by 50% would prevent a ton of layoffs. But Stink would never do that because the dividend is the only thing keeping investors interested at all, but more importantly, that dividend is an extra source of big income for the top level execs who have a giant amount of stock.

In other words, that repulsive sub-human jackhole Stink wants to ensure his cashflow stays on and he's more than happy to murder tens of thousands of workers to do that.

If Stink caught covid, suffered hideously, and died I would throw a party.

WHO HATES STankey?AMAZON unlikely to strike a deal to distribute its app on Fire TV streaming devices. “It looks like we may not be in the Amazon Fire app store when all of this is said and done,” Stankey said.

Why Randy, Stank and company are so insistent on dividends, they are paying themselves as they own large quantities of T stocks. You may own T stocks as part of 401k and see dividends payment in your statement. That is nothing compared to what they get.

It’s nothing but a numbers game, T is a multi billion dollar business. They cut cost to balance out the big losses in TV and other areas, and they are damn good at it. Lay-off, rebadge, selling reale estate and cell towers, they will do anything to prop up earnings and surly don’t give a damn about employees or morale. What they s— at is growth, taking debt and buying companies isn’t anything new. Dividends didn’t land on 50 cents per share by accident, its part of the Death Star design.

Stinky means that there is PLENTY of $ for him to enrich himself and the Board of Misdirectors in the fashion established by Ratty.

Reality check:
The pandemic also meant AT&T's other acquisition, will be adversely affected as well.

4-New Debt of 3,27B bond offerings, in addition to the 5.6B liquidity loan while touting strong cash position.
5-Cord cutting trending upwards.
6-LAYOFFS, AT&T is currentky working on 10 broad areas of opportunity that expect to deliver $6 billion in cost savings over the next three years and improve market effectiveness, everything from IT and field operations to call centers and retail distribution."

sigh, OP you need to take a course in basic finance. start with finance for dummies, nah thats too hard. ok let me summarize for you. net earnings i.e. sales - expenses can be used for several things, 1) buy back stock; 2) pay dividends; 3) play down debt, 3) put in the "bank" 4) invest in new ventures.

notice what's on the list? does that differ from what stinky said? dont get me wrong, ATT is now run by id–ts. nothing worse than an arrogant id–t and stinky is an arrogant id–t. we are definitely in for a world of hurt for the foreseeable future. the remaining employees who cannot leave better have a solid plan b. none of the folks running the company have a clue. I mean stinky and his butt buddy lying "mcflesh" who is nothing but a brown noser are terrible executives. but unless the board take more control and get rid of these execs it will be rough
