Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Of course dividend is all that matters

So dividend is secure, but how? Through more loss of jobs? How is that a good thing to be lauded? How long can you cut costs by cutting people and still expect to have all the work done, and done well and in a timely manner?

Increase shareholder value. Increase workers pay. Just a great company. Great job Randy.

The rest of the well paid employees are tools. Lots of well paid employees. Getting taken care of very well by AT&T, a really, really big service to America.

I’ve said this before here but, the company exists to increase shareholder value and pay dividends. The C suite Is in charge of making this happen and to the extent they are successful they make a lot of money. The rest of the employees are their tools. End of story.

Plenty of workers are getting paid. The work is being done. Don't worry about the dividend or the debt. It will all work out great.

Wow! Lots and lots of dividends that the company can't afford to pay covered by debt. Lots of American jobs being sent to India. Wow incredible job RandallStank. Just incredible.

Yeah, the company took a $4 billion loan in the first quarter, and then paid a dividend of roughly the same.

In what world does that make financial sense to the company in the long run?

The company is run by finance and accounting specialists, their 'vision' is limited to quarterly financials. To them, the business exists on a spreadsheet, and their own job performance measurement is nothing more than meeting annual bonus targets.

Remember, RandyStank doesn't have any experience in entrepreneurship or product development - these guys went to school with the goal to make lots of money for themselves, not to do anything interesting, or to make the world a better place.

How else can they afford the dividends? Why of course keep laying folks off so Randall can get his $274K monthly pension for life!

When a stock loses 25% value, that dividend may look good, but doesn't make up for the loss. Of course, one must sell to lose. Yeah, maybe the dividend keeps paying, but the portfolio still overall loses.

As long as this company has people sending loads of cash every month, dividend is safe. Investors depend on it.
