During a All Hands Call last week, our leader said that they are tracking team member productivity and they were surprised productivity increased as a result of team members working from home. Does anyone know how they are tracking productivity?

I am more productive than ever. I am also WFH.
It will be very unproductive and expensive for Wells Fargo when only one employee coming into the office environment can spread the virus to the entire rest of the people residing in the office with the infected employee. Short term disability payments for ALL office workers infected. This has happened at some meat packing plants, one person infected with corona virus spread it to almost all other employees working with them. It is the fear of illness, not loss of PTO, or going on STD with a huge pay cut, that drives the fear of infection. Fear of death.

You're most likely to catch the coronavirus in a poorly ventilated space. That makes offices very risky. Scientists agree that the virus primarily spreads between people via droplets that fly through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. Evidence also increasingly shows that the risk of infection is much higher in poorly ventilated, crowded areas.
So while it can be jarring to have a runner invade your 6-foot bubble, that fleeting moment is far less risky than, say, working in an office with hundreds of colleagues.

The company is allowing people with the virus to go straight to using their STD, without using the required PTO first. Granted, not 100% pay like PTO, but better than running out of PTO.
If you catch the virus for REAL you will not have to use ANY of your PTO. perhaps do your research before automatically coming up with excuses not to come back in the office.
Thus far I, and all of my family, have been free of the corona virus. We are wearing masks, practice social distancing, obeyed the home lock down orders, disinfect things. I do fear however that once we are required to return to the close quarters of the stuffy, poor air circulation, office environment that will be the situation that will cause me to finally contract the corona virus. Trying to save PTO days if needed to stay home sick from corona virus. It would be best if the company just continued the work from home policy until at least the end of 2020, or until the virus seems to be under somewhat of a control. Return to office = get corona virus.
This is the stupidest stuff ive heard people obsessing about. If they are going to lay you off they will lay you off. I don't think a report is going to be the be all end all. Geesh my managers are so frickin busy they wouldn't have time to be looking at this c-ap. Get a life.
you are an id–t if you are working past normal working hours. honestly, you are not that important.
Wonder if they can take pictures of us at 11:00pm EST, when we are still working from 8:00am EST and we are having out mental breakdowns? Or logging our login time to our logout times? Yes more work is getting done bc we are expected to be available 24/7.
So if ur laptop is closed and u r hooked up to a monitor will their screenshot be of the monitor or the black laptop screen? Just wondering. I keep laptop shut and use a monitor
the blue screens that pop up are powershell scripts that are running in the powershell command prompt. the window pops up, the scripts run then the window closes out. only lasts a couple of seconds.
And, as others have said, if you have dual monitors, the screen shotting only gets the one monitor, not both.
When the mouse is sometimes not showing "Available", due to a few minutes of inactivity, it could be because the worker is actually "thinking" about how to do something next. Maybe taking notes on paper about something.
I have seen some blue screens pop up and wondered if I hit the wrong button somewhere, or whatever. If the company is taking screen shots I do check out cnn.com news for a few minutes, every so often, to see what crisis is occurring in the world at the present time that I would otherwise be unaware of. Like 9/11. About 99.9 % of spying screen shots will be of program code, documentation, etc.
Productivity is measured by the final work product the employees are tasked with producing, not how many key strokes are made, how many minutes in the day one is logged into the network and typing, moving the mouse. Most people do not "goof off" while working remotely because they are dedicated employees, who want to make a good impression, please the business partners/Managers and remain employed. That old saying when the cats away the mice will play is only for the immature, unmotivated, not dedicated employees who will eventually be flushed out due to lack of meeting their work objectives.
Ditto on screenshotting. Has been happening for over a year. Blue screen.
I can tell screenshots are being taken. I'll see my window paint every so often...
With 2 monitors, I only see the primary display getting snapshotted.
You bet... Got mine (MJ-3) on Amazon. best $20 I have ever spent. Looks like a mouse to the computer and it wiggles your mouse ever so often. Screen never locks and you always show active.

Aside from tracking whether I visit inappropriate sites, technology is wasting their time tracking my computer. They have no idea what I’m doing (I’m assuming the tracking is being done outside Saul’s world). Maybe technology should worry first about getting the damn conference lines to actually work at the top and the bottom of the hour.
Seriously, you don’t need to move your mouse to stay active. Just get BlackBerry from home and get the connect app (BYOD). You can set up to always show active.
All of this being said, you will face pending unemployment if you don’t work. You are judged or should be judged based on what you produce, just like a college class where if you goof off all semester and then fail the final project, you fail the class.
this is funny. I am on the phone all day and my meetings are not using screen sharing. I take my notes on paper and then send out email. theyll get alot blank screens or pictures of my calendar.
@2win+14xaW2QO... I doubt they are taking screen shots of laptops for 180,000 people who are telecommuting. I have plenty of documents and email open on my laptop all day and I change it around throughout the day. Still doesn't show that I am being productive, especially considering I dont even use my web browser for anything other than internal sites. if I need to browse, I use my personal laptop that sits right next to my work laptop.
I'm on technology team. They are using software to track what's on your monitor (captures images).

tracking productivity? enjoy tracking my mouse as it sits on top of my watch. every time the second hand sweeps by the mouse cursor move a tiny bit. shows me as active the entire day.
How can they track productivity? They can track the amount of time we're logged on, doesn't mean we are productive that entire time (too many meetings). They can track their little kanban boards, but everyone is not tracking there yet. They can check their sprint statuses, but everyone is not on agile yet.
What kind of "productivity" did our dear leader say they were tracking?
Probly just the volume of access requests processed.
