Confirmed case in Normal, IL club

When I returned from a 5 day staycation on April 13th, 1 of my managers informed me an associate has been confirmed positive for covid 19 on April 11th. I asked who, no answer was given for fear of violating hippa laws, understandable, but to not tell the public is unforgivable. Also, I'm pretty sure nobody was deep cleaning or sanitizing the store on Easter. Tell the public!!!!!!

Why would you ask who was infected?

So you and your messy friends can harass and gossip about that person? So you can shun them and make them feel bad about catching a virus in the middle of a pandemic?

Newsflash: Just because you want to know a person's medical history doesn't mean you're entitled to it. And yes, COVID19 is a significant thing to highlight in a person's medical history, especially IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. It's none of your business.

Why not inform the local media yourself about someone testing positive? You can do it anonymously. We had at least 1 person in our club (test positive) come forward and told everyone and mgr just pretends they don't know!

We have had several people test positive. Although we all know who, management didnt tell us. Nor should they. They did tell us whether or not we were in close contact with those who were sick. They also said to call in or go on loa if we were uncomfortable. Most of us were okay with that. What I'm not okay with is not informing the general public. Meiyers, Kroger's and other public places have announced it but not a word from Walmart/Sam's club. This is not something that should be all hush hush.

@food for thought.....Obviously it's not up to me to determine what HIppa laws cover.......I am simply voicing my opinion....guess I am not allowed to do that?? How would things be for you if you were working along side someone infected...and didnt know they were infected? That's my point needledick! Go back to your cubicle!

@HIPAA shmippa - pretty sure you don't get to mandate what is covered by HIPAA and what isn't. Food for thought.

HIPAA shmippa......Publicizing the known person having the virus is NOT an invasion of privacy....its a measure of safety for the entire store that the person is working at. This is an unprecedented situation we have here. This is not someone having V.D. or Aids...something embarrassing and/or private to the sick individual. Its imperative that everyone in the club is informed who the infected person is. Not a manager guessing who may have come in contact with the said sick person.
