Another Great Ratty Decision - TW Pension

If you management, you probably just got an innocuous email about T's Annual Pension Funding Notice. Read it if you are legacy T Management, or TW.

I thought the Legacy T management pension plan was in bad shape, it is, but TW is REALLY in bad shape by comparison.

Way to go Ratty. Bought a company for a couple hundred billion, layed off tens of thousand as a result, and every year you have pump extra funding into the TW Pension because it is in such bad shape!

Pension is doing fine as long as steal from the employees at buyout time by not updating information and then we can just let them sue us if they want. so it is all good because we can steal from employees

Pension is doing well. No government help needed. Just relax and continue to collect the money.

you are not guaranteed your full pension if the government has to come and rescue the pension.

AT&T's pension is backed by the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, a Federal agency that covers pensions of plans that fail.

In theory, this means federal oversight of the AT&T pension plan, but deregulation means that corporations can play fast and loose, and leave the federal government on the hook to cover your pension.

They can mess with the amounts a bit, tho, so you can lose some, but, supposedly, you can't lose you're whole pension due to AT&T's failure to provide.

Of course, that depends on the solvency of the federal government that has gone on several spending sprees now that the Republicans have declared deficit spending to be ok... ...for Republicans to do.

What specifically makes you state that the Legacy T pension is in bad shape? I saw nothing indicating that in the document.

Re: Time Warner, the only thing that jumped out at me was how much smaller it was, but it’s also serving a much smaller group of people .
