AT&T to lose more than Verizon from the merger, as T-Mobile and Sprint users dig 5G

AT&T stands to lose the most subscribers to a newly-merged Sprint and T-Mobile

  1. 8% of AT&T customers polled are interested in switching to the New T-Mobile. Verizon is in a much safer position: 45.3% said they weren't interested in switching to New T-Mobile.

Many consumers still aren't sure of the benefits of 5G
Despite heavy 5G marketing, only 32.8% of consumers said they understand the benefits of 5G very clearly.

  1. 7% of consumers said they weren't very excited about 5G.

T-Mobile and Sprint customers are the most excited about 5G
The results show meaningfully higher excitement about 5G amongst Sprint and T-Mobile users - 22% of T-Mobile and 19% of Sprint subscribers reported being "extremely excited" about 5G, compared to just 12% of Verizon and 16% of AT&T subscribers
US consumers rate their home cell signal as significantly worse than in 2018
Only 29.3% of respondents reported very good cell signal at home, versus 40.3% when we asked the same question in October 2018.
Verizon has a significant lead in cell coverage experience
38% of Verizon subscribers reported having "very good signal" at home, compared to between 23% and 26% for Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
A considerably lower percentage of Verizon subscribers reported having "very bad signal" or "bad signal" at home.

All in all, mobile subscribers in the US seem to be more content with Verizon, and its signal strength coverage may be the culprit behind those impressions, as the survey reveals.

It has also rolled out 5G exclusively in the fast mmWave bands, unlike AT&T which also has some slower 850MHz rollout. T-Mobile and Sprint are using the low-band 600MHz and mid-band 2.5GHz spectrum, respectively.

Thus, while they can't yet boast the Ultra Wideband 5G speeds of Verizon, and, to a lesser extent, AT&T, the coverage and penetration rate of their combined spectrum is superior.

T-Mobile also has mmWave holdings that it can deploy to notch the coveted gigabit speeds when time comes, so the competition among the three major US carriers is about to get very interesting.

“ I worked there and I come here in hope that any new hires that want to work at the cesspool read this forum and run far away from cesspool.” quite obsessed aren’t you. I can give a damn about the “brand” or “Ratty” or “Stinky” as you like to constantly call them in all your posts, however I do work for T and you don’t.

So why are you constantly posting on this board when if you really had an issue with “illegal” billing practices, why not go to the FTC or BBB? Instead you are posting on a lay-off board that’s geared towards EMPLOYEES.

As do many former scorned ex-lovers must come to the realization that they must let go to heal...so do you.

@2hgd+14pSvlmu - I think you are the one lying. I worked there and I come here in hope that any new hires that want to work at the cesspool read this forum and run far away from cesspool.

Att is a cesspool and with your comments I rest my case. the cesspool and their billing practices should be illegal and if you think they are fine again I rest my case. then it is how they handle their employees. if you are okay with that then I rest my case.

Why do you come here I come here to try show the truth about the cesspool and help people try not to waste their lives and work at such a corrupt cesspool like att.

Why do you come here? because you get paid to protect the brand? how are things in asset management.

Obsessed much? IF you worked at AT&T and left on your own accord ( doubt that very seriously. What are you obsessing on an AT&T lay-off board? “ Cesspool billing and other deceptive practices”? Quit the b—s— lying and bounce.

I love people who come to a layoff site and loss their job expect people to say thanks to att and how great the company was. the company is a cesspool and if you expect all lollipops and rainbows I would suggest you go to another site. att service sux and I hear nothing but complaints still about them and I left on my own and people think I still work there and I tell them that is why I quit and I highly suggest they change their service and whenever the folks do they end up being so much happier and not having to deal the att cesspool billing and other deceptive business practices.

And there you have it...pro T-Mobile post and replies are being posted-banged while AT&T posts are being neg-banged. If this isnt proof enough to who is making the majority of the negative posts (TMo fanboys) on this blog, I don’t know what else can be. For the few legit AT&T employees, don’t feed the trolls.

T-mobile service has been great in recent years , in no small part because of the 7 billion in free cash and spectrum holdings they got courtesy of At&T’s id–tic break up fee they had to pay to t-mobile.

Randy will eventually be known as the man who destroyed At&t. T-mobile and sprint combined has more spectrum than anyone else. When they eventually implement that spectrum , they will be the number one carrier. They will be able to eventually successfully provide all households with high speed fixed wireless internet with their spectrum holdings.

I have great service from t-mobile all across the nation away from urban areas. a lot better than att service ever gave me. so it is a myth that att has great service. they don't even work in my basement when my new carrier does.

Could it be that both TMobile and Sprint service are c-appy outside of densely packed cities so their long suffering customers are hoping 5g will bring them relief? The main thing bring folks to TMobile and Sprint are the price and perks.
