Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Did COVID19 slow down or stop Surplus, Rebadging and Management Offers?

I was expecting the company to keep ploughing threw their plans of eliminating as many people as possible throughout 2020 and not letting anything get in its way. Seems now, that COVID19, everything has stopped. I would have at least expected them to make Management Voluntary Offers, to those who are already Modified Rule 75, at least age 55 and 20+ years. I've not heard anything, meaning I've not heard about it here.

I don’t think T will bat an eye at the offshoring. Most of our people are in India and they have been able to work at home just the same.

Their rethinking this whole rebadging jobs oversees. With this virus and China hiding it from the world for a month or 2 things will change how the U.S does business. I don’t think we will continue to heavily rely on outsourcing jobs and goods so much anymore because of this craziness.

I was just re-org’d in CTIO. My guess is everything is on pause until prob end of April/May, since there aren’t even any announcements going out. Just quietly changed structures in webphone.

The current situation is being analyzed by the corporation. It’s opportunity to see who and what is truly needed and profitable.

100,000 work visas were approved today. Why would the government do that now?

I am guessing that Ratty & Stinky don't want any negative press as I am sure it would be leaked if they tried.

That being said, once the crisis has blown over, the rebadging will continue. You see, T took Federal bailout $ so they cannot directly layoff for the rest of the year. But T can sure rebadge your a$$ (you were not layed off) and let IBM, Accenture, Tech Mahindra or whatever lay you off once you train your replacement!

As in life, adjustments were and will be made. Jobs that weren't needed were eliminated. Work that needed to be done, those jobs remain.
