I left AT&T on my own 2 years ago. The grass is 100% greener. As someone who took control of my own destiny, all I can say is that this site has devolved into a bunch of whiny crybabies who wish they worked in a utopia. Folks, get serious. Take control and do something about your situation. If you are sticking around because of the pension, but want to b–ch because you are too chicken sh’t to leave, you need to stop complaining. Nobody is forcing you to work here.

I left after 20 years ; come back to this site to reassure why I left. Happier at a competitor that is 10000000000x better! They have a positive culture , better pay , and people first focus. Feels like a new start up but has been around for 40+ years. I too am at that golden age but we’re hired for a relevant skill set. I applaud the author of this thread, thank you. And for everyone still at T... A good company that is ran by millennials , run because no one cares.

Pretty obvious that you're still bitter over your own loss, and hope to project your own bitterness on those here. Why else would you still be trolling the AT&T Layoff site if you're so very happy with your new life?
COVID-19 has changed the dynamics of our job, and our society. We're not going back to the same situation we started with, where employees were fungible.
Customer-facing jobs will require higher pay, just to fill them. AT&T's inexplicable reluctance to embrace telecommuting will need to soften, because it is safer, and a selling point for wider use of our basic dumb-pipe service.
During the "good times," AT&T could get away with following a corrupt administration's lead and behave corruptly, but genuine crisis forces reality to become important again.
No, things won't become good, but they should become better.
Good luck with your "perfect" life. Hopefully, it will become so perfect that it will reduce your felt need to come kvetch to the layoff site that was your last contact with AT&T.

Only 2? I have been here 25, We had 2 surpluses just last year.
at&t has been the most rewarding and finest place I have ever worked. It has also been frustrating and difficult at times.
What made it both was my willingness of unwillingness at times to find solutions or ignore them.
at&t is what we make it.
If you choose to not be an agent of change nothing and I mean nothing is stopping you from seeking other employment.

As someone who has been with the company for over 20 years and lived through two surpluses, I’ve seen the good times and the bad. The company has devolved into a bottom-line organization that only cares about profit margins and stock prices and has completely forgotten the customer service aspect of the business. I’m happy that you left the company of your own accord and have found greener pastures. However, you don’t know anything about the backgrounds of posters on this site that would entitle you to make judgements on them. Personally, I’ve already searched for other pastures and opportunities and they were almost non-existent. When you’ve spent as much time with a company as we have, and are over 50 years of age, nobody wants to hire you. It matters not that you have your degree, experience and determination. You are either too old, earn too much or will leave us as soon as a better paying opportunity comes along. Thus, our greener pastures don’t exist. They are just a different shade of green and you have to do the best with what you have. A pension is pretty much no longer offered by most companies, including Fortune 500’s. While I’m very appreciative of what I’ve accomplished and earned with AT&T, I’m also the first to say that I’ve given the company as much as I’ve received. I’ve worked through illnesses, natural disasters, pandemics and many more obstacles because I was “essential”. So, as I see it, I’ve earned the right to complete my time for retirement and have more than earned my pension without fear or pressure of losing it to someone in another country. While I will say you are entitled to your opinion, you must remember that giving said opinion will not protect you from the STFU!!!

I left on my own too but I don't call the people on here crybabies. att is a horrible company and I come to let that be known to hopefully which aren't future hires. att is a cesspool and you have no right to call any body crybabies. people can come and say how horrible this company is and I personally hope they go bankrupt and randy and stank are put in jail. the people commenting on this site are not the enemy except maybe you but it is the executives running this company into debt while they give themselves raises. so go somewhere else if you don't like it here but you have no right to lecture anybody.
