Who is still going inside homes??? I thought the CWA put a stop to it because techs and their families are getting sick. We haven’t had any installs or upgrades bulked to us in almost a week! It’s been repairs only to help prevent the spread of the virus. Now I did hear that in some areas they are doing HSIA only installs and having the tech put the RG through the window, but absolutely NOBODY should be going inside right now. Period.

BAU for CPE Core Techs in SE. I’m getting a little bit nervous with most businesses closed and we’re still out here acting like nothing is wrong.
Almost every customer says the same thing that they are surprised we’re still out here.
I’m just waiting for multiple techs to test positive. I feel upper Management (especially L2’s) aren’t all that concerned about it. I sense they are more concerned with their metrics and stock bonuses.
I mean they will talk a good game and all that; but why are we still doing Installs and Upgrades while testing is arriving only after the spread of the virus goes vertical. That’s not very helpful to the person who just found out he or she’s got it.
Hate to tell you managers but the alternate dispatch is only if the customers answers yes to any of the 4 questions. We still are only going on trust, Techs or Customers could be infected, contagious and not be symptomatic for days. Plus the alternate still involves a lot of risky tasks knowing the customer is infected or highly likely. It’s still unknown about all the ways of transmission. Anyone says different is blowing smoke. The customer opening doors, windows is just a way to breathe their infected air.
In central CA, we (ip techs) are getting bulked DTV upgrades and installs every damn day. cable tv is the least essential thing in the whole world until i realized that At&t owns CNN. what better way to keep the sheeple obedient by keeping them glued to their tv's. sad.
Ditto on the “Alternate dispatch guidelines” communication. It goes out nearly every day to all customer facing technicians. Simply follow the guidelines and use good judgement. Nobody in “management” has a wish for frontline technicians to get sick or be put in a risky environment. Please stop with all the drama and just do your daym jobs.
Why are you going inside the customers home? That is a safety issue for both of you, customer and technician. Read the alternate dispatch guidelines that where sent via email a couple of weeks ago, the company actually resends them on a daily basis . In that email it clearly states “ Only outside work” is to be perfom, then it gives you alternate installation options.
If you’re 45 and under quit crying. You’re getting paid more. If you still have a problem, just wait, they’ll get rid of you when this clears up.

Nothing has changed in our area. We're still doing residential installs - video, internet, VOIP, single to bonded conversion internet upgrades, even getting single dispatch DTV installs still. The only thing I haven't got are any First Responder installs that we were told would be the only installs we would be doing.

I’m in hotspot Atlanta area and still BAU. COVID-19 numbers of infection & morbidity getting larger everyday. Once a vaccine is developed won’t worry as much but we should stop installs and interior repairs now.

Michigan still getting same work new installs dtv bp upgrades new fiber installs nothing has changed except for the fact i am bulked at least 3 new installs a day

BAU in midwest
It seems like business as usual here for core in the southeast. New residential pots orders, new unverse installs, unverse upgrades, and forced OT. There are 6 people in my group and we had 17 orders this past Friday. We are bulked multiple orders to start the day then we are bulked future troubles in the afternoon. I guess this is the “triage” that McElfresh was referring to.

Original poster is a company plant. Just yesterday was bulked 2 installs with one of those being a 5 tv directv. Over half the daily load is new provide not repairs only.
In the SE we are still doing bulks, upgrades, new bonded and pots installs. What area are you in?
