Anyone have good experiences with the STAR program? Did it turn into a regular position after after it ended?

I am in a star position now. Glad I took it given covid. It is working out well but very simple work for 25% less pay. Sort of treated and talked to like a contractor. I see them flipping it to another star or contractor down the road. It works well for me now but just kicks situation down the road.
You can’t be a star if you are not in a core location. So for the 680 people that relocated, no Star for us!
I had a really good experience as a star employee following a layoff several years back. My original six month assignment extended to the full 18 months. The group liked me a lot but had a history of only hiring star instead of fte. I realized that quickly so used the time to look for another job while working that one. My package temporarily stopped while doing it, than started back up once star assignment ended. I got great new experiences, continued getting medical benefits, and was hired back at wells before my package ran out. I would take a star role if you are offered. Just be clear that you will continue to post and interview, and if you get offered a fte position you will need to take it.
I know of several people who got better positions after being on the STAR program, but that was last year. Who knows what is going on this year?
When I was a contractor at Wells Fargo, around 7 years ago now, I worked with a very nice STAR employee there. Did meet up with her in the city the next year after she was laid off from Wells Fargo and she happily had a new job at Bank of America.
Star is a temporary and cost efficient way to reduce FTE while still stop gapping work until it can be offshored. We were specifically told we would not be hiring star employees full time (because we won’t backfill in the US anyway)
I accepted a STAR role that was supposed to last 7 months. After 4 months my incredibly inexperienced and inept manager told me they had to end it early with no explanation whatsoever. My advice to you is to take this opportunity to look ANYWHERE other than WF. There are better places to work out there and you can find them.
I didn't sign up because I wanted nothing more to do with WF, but it worked out for a friend in Minneapolis. She got a star position that went full time.
