Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Promotion

Should I accept a promotion knowing that there are potential layoffs coming? What’s the likelihood of me being let go since I am going into a new role. My leadership asked me to apply for it just curious for some guidance

“Tried before they hired their friends”
Recruiting does not look if you are internal or external. Friends is a joke, a hiring manager saying their friend is applying would be a recruiter telling their manager of the request. That would never pass, audit or compliance.

I think folks thinking about promotions during this time have to think about two things. One is the role really essential? Meaning how much value does the role really bring to the enterprise? If the answer is not much then there’s a good chance it’s gonna get khut once the rona is over. Second is would you be willing to perform the role with less support ? For example if the role is a management role with a team of 5 people would you be willing to do it with 3 people instead and pick up that slack. If the answer to both is yes then have at it and best wishes. If not, that is okay. You’ll probably want to watch things play out then better plan the next move

How well do you trust your leadership? Typically if they are asking it is a subtle hint that they would rather have you in the role than someone else. Or they could be trying to f***k you over. Only you can decide.

Well, with the cash incentive, they used $100K as a threshold - I’m thinking that they’ll target duplicate jobs, redundant jobs, and high salaries / management positions to get as much bang for their buck as possible.

It all really depends on the criteria they decide to use. I’d feel better if I made less than $100,000, but you never know.

Everything will work out in the end if you are good employee.

If you were “ asked” to apply for it do it. Don’t worry about getting it. They need internal people to apply for jobs so they can say they tried before they hire their friends.
