Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is this for real?

So, there is no money for hazard pay, we have major layoffs looming due to financial issues, and yet AT&T has enough cash to comfortably continue dividend payments. Comfortably. Are you f'ing kidding me?

Easy for folks sitting back in their cushy virtual offices to squawk at folks concern over no longer getting hazardous pay.....If you were out on the frontlines having to interface daily with the general public during this pandemic you might be singing a different tune....trust me. Let the guy whine...

As a Shareholder, I only care about the growth of the Company and return on my investment. My concern is the balance between labor and workload. If the Company is heavy on labor and thin on work, there needs to be a right sizing. If the workload is heavy and the labor is thin, then there needs to be a right sizing. It makes zero business sense to have the labor heavy in overtime pay. It makes zero business sense to be paying labor to be on payroll with little work needing to be done. If layoffs are in the future, so be it.

Company is doing layoffs because too many workers aren't doing any work.

Not kidding you. Workers getting paid, investors getting paid. That's how successful companies work.

It was never “hazard” pay. It was an “attendance” bonus. Ts way of *ing employees to come to work, instead of taking off for the 160hrs they offered

Ding ding, we have a winner.

It was never “hazard” pay. It was an “attendance” bonus. Ts way of s—ering employees to come to work, instead of taking off for the 160hrs they offered. Look at it this way, you risked your life and those around you for a 20% bonus.

Layoff's are not due to any financial issues. That is just more of the 2020 plan that's been in place for long time. Should have felt lucky to get the hazard pay.

The company isn’t run to pay your salary. The company is run to enrich the C suite and pay dividends. That’s the only reason big corporations exist.

That hazard pay was pure gravy; you're lucky you got it as long as you did. The only thing AT&T has going for it on Wall Street is the dividend. No one likes us otherwise. Stop paying the dividend, and the stock price will tank even farther.
