Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This! So much this!

All the added task, policies, new systems, continual updates, meetings, emails, town halls, videos, spreadsheets, red tape and micromanaging is due to a lot of non essential positions trying to justify their jobs. The L1’s and craft can’t focus on the customers or their job task due to all of this nonsense. The company is finally trying to reset back to a time of less management which will help reduce all the above which has no effect on bottom line or customer satisfaction. Last time I checked, the Customers pays the bills.

Sorry but tic tock, most of the nepotism and sycophants are running out of places to hide.

All have applied for years at the phone factory, nepotism, sycophants, cronyism and incompetent.

It was ok and a nonissue when we were a monopoly but those days have been long gone. The problem is the company never made a pivot to remove all the unnecessary management positions and levels. It’s been the frontlines, lower support and IT that has suffered layoffs, offshoring and rebadging.

Due to poor Leadership and purchases this company can’t continue with all the added fat anymore and is drowning in debt. We aren’t being leaders or creators in the marketplace, just trying to buy companies at peak prices and being too late to the party. So, their new/old plan is to lay-off employees, sell properties and parts of the company. That can only work for a short time. The bill has come due thus the exit of Randall and others with their obscene packages.

The company needs new leadership including board members since all have acted in bad faith for this company and only enriched themselves to the detriment of the company and those below upper management.

I didn't get the position so it must be cronyism. Cuz I'm not a loser.

the word being used is probably not the best, since most people think it means family ("nepotism").

The proper word would be:

"cronyism" - the appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications.

However, the idea is the same. And it's rampant at T.

My God how true. My mind is so twisted from jumping from one policy that forces me to lie and cheat one day to a different policy that has me falsify records the next day. All just to make the beans line up in a row so that a useless teat VP can keep their job. My boss hasn't any time for questions & barely has time to return calls because he's too busy arguing & fighting with his AM & Director all day. This $hit has to stop.

Sadly, it won't be the redundant layers in management that get the axe. It will fall heaviest on those who fall below the "Assistant Director" level. You know, the working stiffs.

God forbid if any of the bloat in the executive ranks were removed, or if there was any sort of meaningful decrease in the greed and avarice among Stink and his buddies.

"And yet they still have a great job." doesn't sound great to me. it sounds like a big club of who you know or related to waiting for their payday to be surplussed out the door. while all the honest people who think they are actually doing something but are not in the know wink wink get whatever work is left that all the so called leaders don't want to do. so if you lose a fight for work to do you get sc-aps.

what a great job. and by the way this isn't how other companies work. you hired to do a job and you do it and get rewarded you don't have to fight someone's nephew, brother, or fishing buddy for work.

but hey it is a great job - keep saying that myth and you will believe it eventually.

When people don't know what's going on and they are lost, they just let the accusations fly... nepotism, sycophants, whatever else they can come up with. And yet they still have a great job.

I see this nepotism claim all of the time on here. I'd love to know where this is so rampant. I have been here 25 years and have never seen it ( and I am no company sycophant, just stating fact).

I agree but you’re naive if you think things are going to get better for the frontline. They will always micromanage and hound and harass the frontline. Its just the game.
