50% of directors, VPGMs, operations (SEL, DRE etc), and admins will be laid off. 1 to 10 minimum ratio for direct reports. No more directors with 4 employees each and an admin. Each area manager will manage 10 stores, directors will have 10 area managers each, VPGMs will have 10 Directors, no RP position, VPGMs will report to a president of all stores nation wide. President of all stores report to Jeff. 2 levels up top will be eliminated. The VPGMs are trying to lay off the lower level employees and play company for fools but Bill and Jeff not having it. Much leaner and cleaner.

About 20% of retail stores will be sold to authorized retail. If you’re in a level 1 store, start looking for another job.

“ Still wondering about RSMs and ASMs and what factors will go in if they are on the bubble of being surplused”

Is your store opened back up from COVID or not? If not, brush up your resume. Has a new dealer store opened up a block or two from you and your store’s lease is up? If so, better start looking. This applies to management. They will move RSCs to other stores where possible and in areas with bargaining agreement that guarantee a position if a store closes. Keep in mind though, those guaranteed positions can be anywhere in the country under those bargaining agreements and no relocation assistance is required. It also does not require that it is an RSC position.

I have to say as an ARSM in retail I don’t understand how IHX has been so successful. I would kick these jerks out of my house. And I say that seeing their numbers. Their numbers are amazing, churn rates low, NPS scores the highest in our consumer distribution channels, port-ins the highest in the company, and by far the most profitable sales channel. I don’t get it but they somehow pulled it off. But I doubt they can keep this going forever.

Is it across the board? Or are they determining it based on profitability in the markets?

I agree not ALL RSCs will be offered positions. But than again why keep trash? Only the strong performers will survive.

I can confirm that the 2 post below are very accurate and I can add additional context. Retail RSCs will face severance however will be offered the opportunity to move to the in-home channel as IHX is the future of our retail selling strategy. AR partners will also be creating and rolling out their own version of IHX as well. AT&T Retail is due for significant cost cuts.

IHX is supposed to be adding 700 experts by end of summer to help with the AT&T delivery and setup and right now they are hiring only RSCs and prem-techs. No external hires while there are pending surpluses coming. So that post below is possible.

Sorry

That last post was comical. They won’t offer all the reps jobs in IHX in lieu of surplus.

Folks this is what’s going to happen for all of you out there speculating. AR will roll to IHX and that means ARSMI will also roll to RTG. Retail is due for a significant surplus...as for the union there is NOTHING that the CWA can do! I repeat there is NOTHING that the CWA can do. As part of the surplus ATT retail RSCs will be given the opportunity to migrate to IHX as an IHE as the break even and ROI for an IHE is significantly smaller from a target perspective. IHX is by far the most profitable channel in the company. The retail organization has been in a steady decline with the majority of employees doing nothing but holding up counters, playing on phones, and selling NOTHING. This is going to be a 3 step phase...step 1 has already been completed and that was aligning AR with RTG. You can except to see cuts coming as early as June. In most states the company has decided to not open some stores. Those store will be sold off to AR partners such as Prime Communications. If you’re in ATTR and you s— as an employee from a performance perspective I recommend you start looking elsewhere. You will not make it.

Does anyone have any idea what it is looking like for RSMs and ASMs when it comes to the $1.5 billion in lay-offs?

ReadyToGo already oversees AR at the top level going to Rob Forsythe so part of the change was already made earlier this year. It is just part 2 of that.

For ARSMi to roll to IHX that would pull all of the AR results out of the VPGM span of control. Making their organization even smaller.

Also pulls ARSMi out of the retail organization which doesn’t make sense since we are trying to pull AR closer to ATTR.

Already was decided? When? I find it interesting that you wouldn’t answer what level you are to know this information.

Not buying this

Summer with reorg structure July/August and surpluses off payroll a little later. Directors will have stores as direct reports but the authorized retail will move to the responsibility of IHX directors who will each have an ARSMi reporting to them so the retail directors can just focus on ATTR at least.

Because directors are more corporate and used to a larger span of control. It was what was decided so not up to us.

@1haw+14U7Y6sE

Why would they do that and pay another Director more than they would just to get rid of the directors and have the ARSMs (half the cost of a dos) report to VPGM?

Some ARSMs will become directors in this move. Increase number of directors slightly, surplus a lot of ARSMs, and headcount costs are lower and the organization is flatter. That is the plan.

ARSMs in some markets have 15 stores, so it’s possible. My DOS only has 2 retail ARSMs, and if they close some of her retail stores, she could become the ARSM. Laughable, but possible.

Is this true?

I don’t see how a Director could have that many direct reports and be effective.

There will be fewer stores and no more ARSMs and AVPs. Store managers will report to directors who will report to VPGMs.

Thanks to Paul Roth, there are way too many stores. Retail needs thinned out big time.

Authorized Retail will also be managed under ReadyToGo (IHX) area managers instead of retail ARSMs

Stay in the store and don't go to IHX. You are in a way better position than that department.

Cutting our way to growth.... it has to work this time, right...??? What could possibly go wrong....? AT&T has basically outsourced so much it no longer has a credible value proposition.
