AT&T will follow a similar path to Google and Facebook on this one. In fact, there will be some people that will continue to work from home indefinitely even after the end of this year. This virus proved that work can get done from home - even AT&T can't deny that any longer.
WFH would be great but companies like att take advantage of their employees and expect you to work all the time.
Looking back over the last 5-10 years, I'd say T saw this coming and sold a very large stake in it's real estate (in the name of shared works space). Not many T buildings to go back to in reality!
They sold allot of buildings that remain empty!

Agreed with the previous post the utility mindset. The bad news is that as more people move from landline to cell phone and contract TV package to streaming, the monopolistic tides to the customers are long gone.
Let's pretend the Stank gets his dream on keeping fiber, mobility and HBO as three core products, T is still not competitive to gain market share on their ancient products and price structure. When was the last time you brought a cell phone from a T retail store? The same phone can be had at lower prices else where, period! I appreciate the CSR holding the door open for me, but that isn't premium service worth the additional cost. Throw in a fancy coffee and massage, then we can talk. Stank has gone Hollywood, but his instincts and DNA just won't change. He went to UCLA, and is always the smartest guy in the room. A while back, an executive from DTV commented about how T has inbreed problems at a townhall, guess what, he is gone. The company rewards failures and eliminates dissent.
Nice and I think a beneficial thing for both the companies and their employees, for obvious reasons like cost reduction and commute/other benefits, respectively.
AT&T is NOT, repeat NOT, one of the early adopters or forward thinkers in this realm. No matter how hard we try to insinuate "we are a tech company", we should look to G etc etc to see how tech companies behave.
We are a utility company pretending to be a tech company. Rooted in old ways of thinking. Our management is around 85 years old on average (mental age, and not in a good way). Perhaps trucking or railroads is more the type of blood that runs through their veins. I can't see you? Ok that means you're not working. Period, Done.
This goes beyond stupid, it is a harbinger of extinction. If a mental image of a dinosaur just flashed through your mind, you've been paying attention.
