Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Location strategy discontinued, but HR adhering to core locations...

despite Saul's location strategy being discontinued, as an internal employee, don't count on applying for any jobs as a telecommuter or otherwise if you live outside of the core hub listed for the job.

HR is heavily screening and auto-rejecting any applicants who are not located in the core hub listed for the job posting. the hiring manager will not even see your application.

The people who want an orderly reopening of business are called doctors and nurses, funeral home directors and grave diggers.

We just need to give everyone their personal space and when we're in close proximity to each other, wear a mask.

Other than lap dancers, most jobs can be adjusted to allow for a safe return.

FYI, the "extremely rich" are the ones paying the right wing media to push to send everyone back to work, because they don't actually do any work for their money, the extract it from the rest of us doing work.

The people who want the country to remain shut down are extremely rich, or simply do NOT want to work, or they are Democrats who think this will make Trump lose.......which will NOT happen no matter what. Trump 2020!!!!!

@4tpl+14QAQLIE yes, it is managerial discretion. It may not be the individual hiring manager's discretion, but different areas of the bank are making different decisions on this. What is happening in tech is not the same as marketing is not the same as LOB, etc. Even within these broad functions, some of the execs have set policy across their group (sounds like that's what's happening in tech, but i'm not in tech so I don't know) but I do know for sure that in other functional groups sometimes it's being set at the exec level for entire group, sometimes it's their 1-downs, sometimes 2-downs, etc. Not specific to hiring manager, but there is managerial discretion - it is not a company wide policy.

Everything stated in this post is correct, however, no one attempted to provide the reason why the Firm decided to adhere to this policy. Saul is trying to change the IT culture and to create quick Agile/capability teams that will be in a better position to deliver changes for the business. He wants for these agile teams to be sitting at the same table with business in the same locations.

@3ays+14QAQLIE... that's b.s. and not up to hiring manager they have to get exception approval for telecommuters or people outside of core hubs.

I live in an area that is less expensive than many of the core hubs so managing FTE costs is b.s. The fact that the bank does differentials is b.s.

it is at manager's discretion across the company. the same thing has happened in other groups. it's a way to manage to FTE cost by leveraging area differentials.

3 tech managers, including my own, told me the same and they confirmed it with HR and sr. "leadership" before the saul call. As for other LOBs I can't say

who knows don't worry so much, many companies are doing good and having record numbers; any large companies doing layoff are hurting the country and US Government plus the people they layoff. I don't know what he Feds would do about some failures that damage the country.

They'll find out quickly, how well that's going to work, filling demanding positions.

Depends on LOB. Some have exception approval processes to go outside the hub.

poster is correct. I applied for a role and my application was rejected the next day. I contacted hiring manager who told me HR will automatically reject application if you are not in one of the the core locations that are listed in the job req.
