Apple's (AAPL) 5G iPhone shipments in 2020 may be much weaker than expected, according to sources who spoke to DigiTimes. Those sources put current estimates at 15 million to 20 million units this year compared to a prior forecast of 30 million to 40 million.
Exactly how does HR with their enhanced PI skill set ‘track down users posting this malicious news‘. Who determines what is considered malicious news?
Are you working as a contractor directly for Verizon or are you working for a firm who is contracting for Verizon?
3esu, OP here.
The context here is a budget cut, not a staff augmentation. The point is you terminate contractors before laying off employees despite the fact employees cost more although there can be exceptions. The rebadge of domestic and offshore IT employees to a third party vendor was a total disaster. The person(s) responsible for that decision should have been held accountable, but we know that never happened since the IT leadership team remained intact.
Contractors are employed by body shop agencies. They are on their pay roll, not verizon. I don’t understand why there is so much gripe about reducing contractors. I am still surprised we still have so many.
Hello what did you just say?
Assuming equal quality you said it’s more cost effective to hire for $150k per year vs $125k per year 😝
Plus a contractor you can tell to leave tomorrow, not so with an employee

Use your brain. They are obviously not going to do it in the middle of all this.
What happened to the layoffs !? There are no “official” news yet. Folks on this chain keeps on smelling layoffs but nothing solid yet. Please stop posting fake news here... fake news more severe than COVID-19
Wasn't it a said goal of Verizon to have a flexible workforce which will grow & contract as needed? It's much more difficult to release employees so yes, contractors would definitely be let go first.
In IT: Contractors $125K annualized. Fully Loaded (with benefits) Employee annualized $150K. If you have to reduce budget, it makes total sense to release contractors before RIFing employees.
Contractors cost the company 20% more than a regular FTE in the long run. They are hired as contractors for a reason.
contractors are elastic resources.
RE/REG was also hit this week.
Im a contractor and got notified this past monday that I will be laid off in two weeks, along with others on my team in RF/network operations, due to slow down in 5G buildouts. Remaining contractors in our group will have pay cut until further notice.
we just hired 3 more contractors to keep up
