When will they resume the surplus process for those 3/20 Layoff

Should they let those 3/20 surplused people go first before new layoff?

While it would be comforting to believe that they won't lay folks off because of Trumps ire before the election , that was during different pre-virus days.

I think the other way, the virus will give them plenty of cover especially 3rd quarter , to make significant cuts. Who's gonna cry the 30million other unemployed folks?

Or apply for unemployment. There is extra money in there now.

We were told by an EVP on the Covid open mic that 5/12 is the day. If you heard nothing, I expect you will by EOD. My manager confirmed the 5/12 date.

Today is 5/1, seen or heard nothing. Those who claimed 5/1 is the day are just stone head.

T took a 5.5 billion dollar loan from private banks. Nothing to do with stimulus/ bailout / whatever.

Check your facts, pay attention.

Why are people downvoting factual information on this thread? Those layoffs for people to be off payroll on 3/20 were simply placed "on hold" when this pandemic kicked in. They are now off hold. This was confirmed during the TechOps COVID 19 Open Mic yesterday. At least these folks will end up with almost 2 months extra pay.

Did they announce surpluses on 3/20 and then reel it back? Are people aware they were surplused?

There is no "should", they are gone. Was formalized yesterday. Pay attention.

Randall's $4 billion loan is for running the business. Not a handout. Unemployment is the handout.

Depends on how many workers are needed. What are you going to do with the workers if there isn't work?

I thought that Randall recently borrowed 4 billion dollars so that there were no strings attached.

Layoffs are dependent on national optics. They're not going to lay anybody off if it risks Trump spotlighting that behavior and shaming the owner of CNN as he would LOVE to do.

Also, some of the bailout money they gladly took has conditions on it that they not lay people off, though those strictures are only in place for the presumed duration of the epidemic.
