Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Looks SO similar to Sears..sad

I don’t know what to even say......30 year proud employee that started with Southwestern Bell, I couldn’t wait to put that tool belt on every single day.... REALLY I, felt like I made a difference. Customers were glad to see me in my bucket truck to get them back in service........Now look at this mess........just like watching the CRAFTSMAN brand slip from SEARS.......hard to believe were here....there are parallels, were close......

This mess is paying a lotta workers good salaries and benefits. Taking care of investors. I wish all messes could be this good.

At this point, @but, we can't be any of those things. That's because, instead of investing in our core company all these years, Randall drove us up to our eyeballs in debt with his failed media acquisitions, the DTV debacle, and his gift to T-Mobile while allowing the core of this company to rot from neglect.

Instead of making our plant world class, instead of installing fiber and maintaining our real estate, our assets have either been sold off or allowed to decay to the point that not even Frontier would want to buy them. All so that Randy and Mr Stanky could live out their Hollywood dreams!

If you want to see AT&T's future, look not just at Sears but at Frontier and Windstream. When this is all over, there will be 2 dominant media/communications pipeline companies in the United States, and AT&T will not be one of them!

Well let's see. We can go back to being the phone company since everyone wants a landline phone. Everyone likes old technology and wants to go retro. We can be a wireless company and charge more than our competition because we're AT&T and everyone knows our service is so much better than everyone else's and people don't really care about price. We can be a transport company because everyone likes the novelty of copper transport and the blazingly fast and reliable internet service it provides. Plus, the public doesn't understand that copper only gets better with age. Or we can shift gears and put fiber everywhere since like that baseball field in the corn field - we can just build it and they will come. Plus it should be easy since we hardly have any debt from all our widely successful and inexpensive acquisitions. We can be a satellite provider since "space is the final frontier." We can be a content provider because even though we were very late to the party we definitely know better than all of the existing ones...because we have a fresh set of eyes and understand that all everyone really wants is to do is binge watch Friends. Or we can.._____ Someone please fill in the blank since I go nothin'...

If you are touting catalog operation, you aren't even a good back seat CEO.

Sears failed for one reason only. They had a worthless CEO Eddy Lambert. He drove Kmart into the ground and was then allowed to buy Sears and drive that into the ground. Sound familiar?

Sears was the Amazon of their day with their catalog operation.

Sears was ahead of their time. Don't forget that many of us started with Sears IP services, that IBM bought from Sears and then T bought from IBM. There are just a few of us left.

Excuse me Randy did not modernize anything. HE crippled the organization with the failed T-Mo debacle. He should have been fired for that plain and simple. But instead what happened I will tell you after the failure our quotas went up. Shameful.

Sears failed because they didn't adjust their business as times changed. Randy modernize AT&T. Dragged AT&T into the 21st century despite the kicking and screaming.

Yep, we were respected by management and we respected them. Customers were the winners. Now? I have to make my numbers to save myself and my boss, customers don't matter. Only the fake meaningless numbers matter.
