Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What kind of person comes to a site

about a company that lays off it workers after giving a lifetime of work and makes fun of the people who are hurting and just been told you cost the company too much money with your pension you have to go.
I mean really what kind of company person does this to people who are down and out and defends the company and talks about how great they are because they pay salaries and benefits.
What kind of person calls people who are down and out haters, losers, and say you won’t be missed.
I hope future people who are looking to work att the cesspool takes a real hard look at this board and looks at the kind of people you will be working with in the future and run far away. Att is a cesspool and always will be one.

There are paid commenters trying to make AT&T look less awful. That’s the type of person someone who doesn’t have a problem being an A****

Just because you think "that's just how corporate America works", doesn't mean they're above criticism. Front line workers know what it takes to satisfy a customer, build a company's reputation, and create efficiency in the process. All the while, balancing these elements. Yet over and over management becomes obsessed with metrics that either don't matter or only benefit their careers and profits MOMENTARILY. When the side effects of short sightedness come rolling in, all too often job cuts ensue and the profit to payroll ratio temporarily improves and pumps up stock value. Then you are short handed, can't deliver to your customers, reputation suffers.....yet they just don't learn. They resort to hidden fees and pushing questionable sales tactics on their people. It seems rarer and rarer these days that a large company gets it. DirecTV did one thing and did it relatively well. That's why AT&T wanted to own it. They should've just cashed the checks and left well enough alone.

The Fortune 500 company I work for today cleans you the restrooms twice a day and has a schedule posted by the door when it gets cleaned. I guess att doesn’t have to do that because you know what doesn’t stink. Sound fitting george w bush.

@1voh+14HDXJoi Wtf are you talking about. T is the worse a bunch of related inbred know it alls. You are obviously one of the people he was talking about coming here and lecturing people and telling us your version of your world. You are probably one of the people who call the people names and say glad you left on this site who just lost their job because that is your version of the real world. I feel sorry for you and hope you can change before you leave this world.

I have worked at three Fortune 500 companies and att was the worse. Total George w bush types and act like they can do nothing wrong. I hope new employees thinking of coming to att run far away. Att can’t get out of its own way if it tried and never seen such a company with a worse culture.

Look you sir obviously have a disconnect from the way things operate in the corporate world of the USA in 2020, I've worked at 3 very large Fortune 100 corps, and honestly T's culture is middle of the road.... want a see a real sh*t show go over to the IBM or GE forums on this site.. I worked at IBM for a while and a large bank.. large corporate environments always have similar cultures, in that older industries with lots of legacy culture that are public companies are always run by temporary caretakers, who's motives and goals are their own.. Some are Type A, some are intellectuals and some are a blend of personalities, but at the end of the day they're seeking their own agenda, and this or that public company is a means to their ends,

You my friend are a "human resource" which is a fancy way to say replaceable widget, much like a cell tower antenna or a 2U rack server...You have some value for a period of time, and then eventually over time your value wanes, hopefully, you've gotten your share of capitalistic pie before then.. No company big or small owes you anything, and conversely you don't owe the company either.. All the kumba-ya , we're in it together townhall bullsh*t is just that .. the execs are just doing their day job at "rallying" the troops, nothing more.. see it for what it is..

Life is too short to be angry at the world or at T, if you're truly not happy move on..

I am Sorry that you are going through this. It is very difficult to lose a job that you obviously did work hard at and cared a lot about. Change is never easy and haters will jump at every chance to put someone down so that they can feel better.
Every corporation has its flaws because they are made up of people. People have flaws and Hurt people Hurt people. It is not just L3 and above, like the person said below. It is a choice in attitude that EVERYONE Makes multiple times a day. Look at how AR, ATTR, IHX, BIR, BAT, Regional, Select, IoT, Global, Alliance, and wholesale interact. If you are looking for bad you will find bad. If you looking for the good you will find good.
Please keep in mind that many people that post here are no longer with the company and work for other companies. They are taking joy in the fact that someone else was let go and not just them. That is a shame... If they are “SO HAPPY” like the claim then why do the come back to this site and bash a company they no longer work at? Too much time on their hands possibly?
We as a company are far from perfect but there are many at of us at various different levels all working to make it better.
I hope You find a new position or job... Remember a job does not define who you are, it is something you do.
