While the first one sounds great and vindicating to many of us, to me this looks more like a rat leaving a sinking ship than anything else. And considering who is replacing him, I can't see anybody consciously getting rid of Randy just to replace him with somebody just as bad and complicit in many of his bad decisions.
But I guess we'll never know for sure.

It’s called a soft firing. He was supposed to be fired in December but they decided to do it 8 months early. Who wouldn’t love to get fired like this? Out in June, hang around on the board for 6 more months plus get my 30 million dollar salary, bonus, severance and so on.
The word fired is just for low pay people, when you make millions you retire, you choose to spend more time with your family, you also take few millions for going it of the door. Now go back to work you need to make up those millions
People like him never retire. Maybe he can work with bill gates and run the world with the Rockefeller’s and give our doctors medical advise. People like him, stank and gates never have their thirst quenched for power.

Stankey was selected when Donavan left. That’s why he left. Up until that point it was either going to be Stankey or Donavan, and when Stankey was selected, Donavan took his leave. The transition has been in the works since then.

This has been in the works for at least 10 years, as big companies always have plans in place on how to replace executives as they leave the business. Stankey's been in training for this since the Pac-Bell acquisition by SBC back in 89.
Stankey had worked under Randall for years on the telco side. Then after buying time warner he serves as CEO of warner media for several months, followed by a promotion to COO of all of ATT for a few months, and will now start as CEO with Randall staying on as executive chairman of the board. I don’t know for sure, but this sounds like a long planned out transition that has been over a year in the making.
