Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Money In, Money Out

I know many are married to ATT and CWA, but the reality is I am compensated by the company for
the work I do. IT IS A JOB no more. With that money I pay bills and support 4 people. 1 Bill is payment of dues to CWA. Some good, some not so good. The actual amount needed to operate the union and negotiate a contract and keep the company honest is about half of what the dues are. Would you happily pay double for anything ?

Wow, $1200 a year is a lot of money.

$1200 a year is a lot for a minor return on my investment. I could hire actual professional legal representation with that, not the CWA amateur hour.

How many people actually enjoy shelling out $1,200 a year in union dues. That’s what I am required to gift to the union for the high level representation. If you really have an issue with the employer then hire a lawyer. Then you have a chance of getting justice. The union is only for
minor issues

Some people think career means being paid even though they are not contributing. Amazing that the company stays afloat with those underperforming malcontents.

Job vs Career. Most career people are doctors, lawyers, accountants, nurses, pilots. I thought I was in a career until most of the benefits were taken back (health care, profit sharing) and the union just raised the dues while the company made us career employees into a 2
letter 4 digit ID. Then the 10 year temporary “career”
Prem Tech. AND the offshoring...... it’s just a job.

Why would the CWA even need a strike fund? They're not going to do anything that would risk their big wad of cash.

Notice you said Job, and not Career.

Yes I am holding my breath anticipating a reduction in union dues because of the National Emergency . Or the union could be using those monies to buy stocks low now in order to have a robust strike fund. I think not. I just started breathing again.
