Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T Disconnect

The company released a statement this afternoon stating that gloves and face masks are not required for field technicians at this time. Prem techs are currently still being assigned iptv and dtv installs that of course require extensive inside work. COVID-19 infected carriers can be asymptomatic while still shedding the virus. This company is exposing its workers and customers to one of the most contagious pandemics in the modern era. All for what? Workers whose spouses have been knowingly exposed to the virus are still required to report to work unless they can prove they need to be quarantined. This is not a doctors excuse situation and most places are finding testing to be difficult. All prem/wire techs should strictly follow the company’s own talking points regarding this outbreak by first only considering doing repairs that could be solved in the outside. ROLL ALL INSIDE WORK ESPECIALLY PAY TV SERVICES. Look out for yourself because the company and the union could give a rat’s a— about yours.

Just did install today in SE that was HSIA and 4 stb iptv. The customer’s daughter had an asthma condition. I credit them for staying in other parts of the house while I was in there. But holy hell is it worth it for some lousy tv service. Never asked me any questions of where I’ve been, how many homes I’ve been in the last two weeks.

id–t manager says he will order some gloves and masks for us. Oh and by the way on back order. Piece of meat couldn’t give a hoot about anyone but himself. Shame on it all. I feel like I’m going into a war zone. The big difference is The victims could be me transmitting this thing to someone else. I don’t mind helping, keeping this world moving, but sh– give me some protective gear. Rambling of nobody At&t cares about

Take this to the media! Bring it out that AT&T is forcing techs to go into homes without protection! Make it known!

Just stop with fear mongering. For a minor issue.

The sad fact is, there is a hierarchy of who needs facemasks, and that starts with health workers. And we don't have that squared away.
Who needs a facemask? Everybody. Look at S. Korea, who managed this virus well. Why? Because everyone was wearing a facemask. This virus is transmitted by water vapor. With a face mask you're not getting it, and you aren't transmitting it. We're going to pay a big price for all this coronavirus denial that carried on for too long. Way I see it, we're going to wind up like Italy.
Hope I'm wrong.

Does anyone know if callcenters were closed or DTV installs halted in CA?

Too much hyperbole. The virus is very minor and going away soon. Stop over hyping it to take advantage of the situation.
