Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Gov. Gavin Newsom orders all Californians to stay at home

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-19/gavin-newsom-california-1-billion-federal-aid-coronavirus

OK - I think we are screwed. Not saying I disagree - but CA is the biggest economy in the US. With this order, economic activities will be basically at a halt. Recession in 2020 is basically a certainty. May be someone is thinking about "depression" also. 1929? Hope Not.

May be a nationwide lock down will be instituted very soon - the way things are going. No one knows when it will be over.

It's surprising that Saul and leadership is still sticking to their guns on this thing called "location strategy" - which I believe is DOA at this point. Perhaps the other posters are right - this is a dirty excuse to get people to quit.

If these so call "leadership" people is worth anything at all - they should immediately shelf this co-location thing and beef up infrastructure for telecommuting and give telecommuters the respect they deserved. They are the ones who keep Wells Fargo running in the background - the unsung heros of Wells Fargo.

At the AMA, Saul said that it is more productive to have "Joe" right next to you in case you have question for him. (OK, if you mind, replace "Joe" with Jane" and "him" with "her".) Saul must be stuck in the 1990's when cell phones were still not very popular and the internet was still at their infancy. We have Skype, email and yes - even phone (smart phones!) these days. Fact to face interaction is not as important as it used to be.

(May be this COVID-19 sickness is actually helping Saul - he can simply say - we're laying you off because EPS is not enough anymore!)

Hopefully, him (Saul) getting stuck in the 1990's would not mean our competitors will be taking advantage of us!

Post ID: @tdk+144Wncik If you were holding a lot of WFC stock in your 401K then you are not that bright and maybe they should sack you. LOL!

At this point every WF employee who received notice should be polishing their resume, updating their LinkedIn profile and apply for external positions. Even if you didn’t receive a notice, take this time to craft a plan so you are not caught off guard.

Honestly I never trusted the old leadership, and I definitely don’t trust the new leadership. Be prepared and don’t count on severance. Honestly they will find anything to terminate you over. You don’t agree with something or someone, insubordination and performance improvement plan. Your projects are behind schedule or over budget because of a lack of resources worldwide, performance improvement plan and 30/60/90 day reviews until you are fired. Or they will make your life a living hell with nonstop check-ins, reporting requirements with conference calls to break you and get you to quit. Work Life balance?! Pfftft. They talk a nice talk, but at the end of the day your direct manger can drop kick you out for not “managing your time” effectively.

You will have no work life balance. It will be just work. Even if you are remote 100% as it is, look at how long you are logged on. 7 am to 9 pm? Sound familiar? That’s not life balance. That’s fear and stress. It’s psychological warfare. I bet a majority of people working remotely are either overweight or underweight, depending on how you manage your stress. Some people snack all day, others drink coffee all day and don’t eat. It’s sad but true.

You are working all those hours and locked into a salary and an “Exempt” position with the hopes that you get your measly 2% raise and if you’re lucky a bare minimum bonus? Don’t play along. Work your 40 hours and that’s it. Screw them. They keep moving the bar higher and higher. Dangling the carrot on the stick. Don’t be a fool.

The stock they give you is WORTHLESS. The same with your 401k. They match your payroll contributions with their worthless stock. Login and look at your Safe Harbor Matching Funds. Is it nothing but WF stock? You need to dump that and every single stock award and reallocate your safe harbor match to the funds YOU choose. Look at your Account Balance, did it take a massive hit? Yes it did because the WF stock you are holding has tanked and it is 50% of your portfolio. Not a smart move. Don’t believe me, look what happened to the employees of WorldCom. Google it. Don’t hold their stock, don’t put your faith in them. You are already here reading this, posting and looking for answers. Everyone is in agreement, they are horrible. They never cut the cancer out, and it’s too late now.

Trust me, I witnessed people with 10, 15, 20+ years get blindsided and terminated in two snaps. If you’re terminated (fired with cause) you are not eligible for unemployment. Don’t get s—er punched, get ready to move on.

They keep reinventing the wheel every 2-3 years, shifting teams, layoffs, combining processes, new management, new hires/fresh blood, new policies, etc., only to undo and unravel the mess they made 2 years later and then continue on the same viscous cycle. The gaslighting, the abuse, the psychological warfare. You’re in a relationship with an Abuser.

Get out.....I did in February 2019. Take your skill set and move on. You don’t have to work at another bank. Apply your skills somewhere else, choose happiness and live your life. Don’t live it for them.

Y’all are ridiculous, they have said wfh so what are you still b–ching about? California is a cess pool anyways and I would suggest they keep it closed indefinitely.

Scharf. Tried the same thing when he was at BNYM. Klien that we needed to collaborate face-to-face… Even though we are spread all throughout the world. Most of us don’t want people in Pittsburgh, New York, UK, India, etc. so even though we were forced to come in the office were still speaking via Skype and phone to “ collaborate “.
Do an Internet search and read what happened about this. He ended up with egg on his face because the UK folks filed a lawsuit and he had to let us back to our old work schedules
