OK - I think we are screwed. Not saying I disagree - but CA is the biggest economy in the US. With this order, economic activities will be basically at a halt. Recession in 2020 is basically a certainty. May be someone is thinking about "depression" also. 1929? Hope Not.
May be a nationwide lock down will be instituted very soon - the way things are going. No one knows when it will be over.
It's surprising that Saul and leadership is still sticking to their guns on this thing called "location strategy" - which I believe is DOA at this point. Perhaps the other posters are right - this is a dirty excuse to get people to quit.
If these so call "leadership" people is worth anything at all - they should immediately shelf this co-location thing and beef up infrastructure for telecommuting and give telecommuters the respect they deserved. They are the ones who keep Wells Fargo running in the background - the unsung heros of Wells Fargo.
At the AMA, Saul said that it is more productive to have "Joe" right next to you in case you have question for him. (OK, if you mind, replace "Joe" with Jane" and "him" with "her".) Saul must be stuck in the 1990's when cell phones were still not very popular and the internet was still at their infancy. We have Skype, email and yes - even phone (smart phones!) these days. Fact to face interaction is not as important as it used to be.
(May be this COVID-19 sickness is actually helping Saul - he can simply say - we're laying you off because EPS is not enough anymore!)
Hopefully, him (Saul) getting stuck in the 1990's would not mean our competitors will be taking advantage of us!
