Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What a difference a year makes

A year ago they were pulling reports to make sure employees were going in the office and NOT WFH. NOW they are pulling reports to make sure employees are NOT going into the office and they ARE WFH (to minimize the spread of the virus).

It is ironic to say the least. It's also downright humorous how the company spent tons of dough in a Johnny come lately effort to create these hip, "open" or "drop in" workspaces, where it is insured that snot will hit you directly in the face at a ridiculous velocity when the person working 18 inches from you sneezes. Hard to see how they will ever be able to force people back into that kind of environment.

@lux+144LUsk1 not true - lots of the contractors have been working from home for months, the directive is everyone works from home now. Not sure how things with India workers will be handled.

Considering how dirty and unsanitary the offices were prior to this (thanks to cleaning staff cut & poor hygiene by certain people), I will be surprised if anyone is forced back into an office after this. One sneeze/cough and people will freak. Some of these buildings are so large there it will be impossible to disinfect every square of it. I guess Workplace 2020 turned around and bit the C suite in the a$$.

You are right. They've been don't that since the corporate tax cuts aimed at building more fibers but randy and stank pocketed the money to instead. Chimps.

This is randy and stank were talking about about. They already cashed in on federal assistance to fortify the network. They will lay everyone off in favor of cheaper labor. Att doesn't follow conventional wisdom
