AT&T nixes $4 Billion Stock-Buyback Plan

"AT&T called off plans to repurchase $4 billion in stock during the second quarter — and has halted all other buybacks — saying it has decided to keep the cash to invest in its networks and in taking care of employees during the coronavirus pandemic."

Of course all this is to get government bailout money, e.g. Elizabeth Warren is pushing for:

  • Companies are permanently prohibited from engaging in share repurchases.
  • Companies must maintain their payrolls and use funds to keep people working or on payroll.

"We're not doing no-strings-attached bailouts that enrich shareholders or pay CEO bonuses. Period." –Elizabeth Warren

Just wanting to get a bailout or tax relief or both. Randy and stank will never do the right thing unless it benefits them in some way, shape, or form.

Yes, and you'd think that it might have something to do with what Trump said publically today, specially that companies were not to do buybacks on their stocks with that money, as that would help no one and not what it was for. Hence, if AT&T didn't stop with buybacks, then perhaps no money for those entities. I got the distinct impression that AT&T topped his mind when talking about learning that companies (ATT) were taking that money and doing buybacks on stocks. Look at AT&T not having their employees interests being placed first. Looks like the Stinky Rat was caught with their hand in the cookie jar, again.

Yeah, Ratty has to comply so he can get a bailout. There was someone on CNBC a few days ago that laid out how all the buy backs enrich the board of misdirectors and the CEOs and the top officers. They also stated that there was an flow through where certain Wall Street types enrich themselves too from these. They end up buying quarter billion $ NY apartments as a result.

I am confident that Ratty and Stinky are working hard to figure out some creative accounting to get around this and get their hands on that $.

Let's all shed a tear...
