Closing 40% of stores, and closing Sundays in stores that remain. Hours reduced to 11-7. And Comp relief. That is huge for alot of people right now.

@1mjm- I wasnt talking about the sales people, just the techs and managers who run the network side of the business. Sales people are definitely not critically necessary during times of crisis, no offense to those who do that work.
We had mo–ns browsing for phones today with 2 month old, 4 month old babies. Both couples oblivious to whats going on today. We had 64 bill payments too. We realized that we are getting the people in society that probably should not be reproducing and / or allowed to operate motor vehicles. Anyone with any brains - stayed home.
Retail Sales locations are sales, and AT&T has said that "new sales are not a priority" right now. Thus, the retail stores need to close, period. The other carriers need to close theirs as well. And, this probably means the federal government needs to give guidelines that non-essential retail, to include sales locations, need to close. 95% of the traffic in my store this week has been nonsense, and most of the customers have been senior citizens whom are supposed to be quarantining themselves.
@1wgz+142Tof6F, Nope! We were a utility 20 years ago. Now we are an information and entertainment service, if you listen to the town hall spin or legal arguments our lawyers put forth in court. The fiber & copper plant is still considered utility because of archaic FCC regulations, but Retail is sales, and most of that can be done online.
So much hyperbole for a minor issue that is going away soon.

As a country we cannot let this pandemic complety shut down the economic drivers of this country. All business needs to operate, in order to maintain viability.

Honestly, it needs to be a FEDERAL mandate that all non-essential retail close down. The piecemeal approach does nothing but slow down the spread, prolonging the pandemic.
I'm no fan of the Chinese government, but their drastic actions have pretty much stomped out the spread there.

by closing a few stores it forces all the customers to fewer stores which increases traffic as people " travel" to the store closest to them. Exactly what one is NOT suppose to do in times like these. We just created a nice petri dish of germs from all around. Who is the brain surgeon who thought up this idea ? Our stores will be the place to get sick, this is gonna be awesome !
Premises Technicians are being overloaded with installs and being forced to work OT. Not wanting to let a good crisis go to waste, the sociopaths running this corporation want to use this as a chance to increase revenue and maybe even gain market share.
If Prem Techs and their families get sick and die, corporate doesn't care. If Premises Technicians get infected and become disease spreading vectors. corporate doesn't care.

Wouldn't putting displaced workers in another store put the location over the CDC guidelines of gatherings of 10+ people?
Confirmed that employees who work at stores affected by the closures STILL have to work, they're just scattered to stores around them that are remaining open.

You’d think an email from levels above your local management is all the authorization you’d need.
The 40% of stores are mall stores and those people are told to work in their nearest COR store. So it’s just going to increase the amount of people in one store and everyone is still working 9 hour shifts exposing themselves to customers who will now be more inclined to come to the store because call centers are practicing social distancing which is creating longer hold times. Closing the store for two extra hours and cramming even more people in is not the answer.
