Whether it is here or any other organization/company. I like where I live and not only that, but at the end of the day, I cannot trust/rely on any company to provide me with job security that I would like to have for the rest of my career. So from here on out, I will decide where I work based on my current residence. So how ahead and give me a non-commutable so called job offer, make my day!

Good for you. I would not move either, though I came very close. Almost moved to STL, then later almost moved to SA, glad I stayed in DLS area. I've been asked to consider moving to CA, we've seen what happened to that business unfriendly toilet. I think the only thing I would be willing to do is learn a new language and use the well established remote technologies and deal with the other MOW businesses. So there, a virtual move, and stay in G-d's country. Look at how CV19 has shown the corp elitists that told us to only work in the office and work in a germ infested CZ, and poof, overnight, everyone is remote and 100% virtual without missing a beat.
@1ecz+141vjNh2 - 1) you need to have it paid off, 2) you need to have enough money to afford to live in another house if your job is not where your house is. If you don't have both, you are indeed shackled. Another term is "wage slave"
Never say never is true! I got surplussed and now live in a sh– brown first floor apartment while I pay for a mortgage on a property and hour &1/2 away. Never thought I would ever live in an apartment again.

Owning a house is another name for holding capital in real estate. How that "escapes the shackles of capitalism" is beyond me
Anyone had their org recently mention relocation like they are/were trying to start all that again? Relocation has recently been mentioned to our org because most are in Dallas. Wonder if it’s part of the Morrow plan?
A LOT OF AT&T employees are regretting their relocation move a few years ago to Los Angeles to work for the AT&T "entertainment" business (DTV).... Not only have they lowered their living standards, they are about to lose their jobs as that part of the ship is lobbed off.

One person in our group moved from his home state to Dallas on his own dime because if you remember "Dallas" was the place to be. He was outsourced to Tech M. He quit 3 weeks ago, found a job back in his home state for more money.
