Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why not close all the stores for two weeks?

At least in the states that have been affected the worst by COVID-19. Close them for two weeks and be done with it. Like this, we learn each day that a new store has been exposed to the virus and it has to be deep cleaned and closed and whatnot. How is that better option?

It’s irresponsible that AT&T isn’t closing all retail locations. Corporate greed at its finest.

If you work in retail, be assertive while this is all going on. Decline to touch customer devices unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. Maintain as far of a distance as possible, wash your hands after every interaction, and don’t make physical contact with anyone. Would I prefer to be home safe with loved ones? Of course. Am I going to show up anyway until the company decides to shut us down? Yes. At the end of the day I chose this career and no one is forcing me to stay, but I know that without a degree I won’t go and make the same amount of money to accommodate my family’s lifestyle the way that AT&T has afforded me to. Make the decision that’s best for you and your family, but understand that wether the company stays open or closes doors, it IS your choice to show up. Stay safe

I’ve heard that their are plans to close all stores and call centers. Today there were a lot of calls about this at a high level especially with the digital part of the company as they will take the brunt of the work.

In our store we come into contact with hundreds of customers daily. Most of whom have poor hygiene habits. We do our diligent part and wipe things constantly - every year. You see, we in retail are use to the flu and it's outbreaks. So with that being said, we do all we can do, but when customers come in, sneezing on us, coughing on demo devices........... well you get the picture. However with this virus and it's traits, things are different. We need to close our stores to help slow the spread. Don't let the corporate greed take over. You can't take money to the grave with you.

People take responsibility for their own well being the is no reason to not work, and provide customers the services you provide, without being safe. Being smart goes a long ways.

Why not see this manufactured crisis as the slim possibility of getting the flu. Wash your hands as you were hopefully taught as a child and get on with life.

Verizon has shortened their hours and is closing on Sunday. Also paying out full commission for March if you hit less than 100%.

I believe ATT retail should shut down for a while. Apple did. Everyday people want me to touch their phone or worse yet, they want me to talk on it. I simply deny them and ask them to put it on speaker. Phones are the #1 source of germs and heaven forbid, virus. Retail is the fastest way to spread it. Our store is almost out of wipes and sanitizers. If we don't get more fast, then what?
