Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Compensation 101

For those that got the invite for the presentation on the 25th, I’d love to hear your predictions. Based on the bonus payout and other examples of book-cooking we’ve seen, I have my own opinions of what’s coming up.

Maybe my memory isn’t the greatest, but I don’t reall ever having a seminar justifying pay just prior to payout. I have a feeling that a lot of target ranges will be modified and then explained by the PR show they are putting together. Of course, cheap h-1b labor is putting downward pressure on salaries, but that won’t be one of the justifications they cite.

Knowing how this company operates, invites went out to people who are about to get their pay band lowered.

I'd rather know it is coming. I've had my pay band lowered twice in my career, with no notice.

Does anyone know why the meeting notice was only sent to a select group of people? It doesn't seem to be based on department or level? I didn't get one but one of my peers in the same group and the same level (2) did get one?????

The title is 'Compensation 101 - Feb 25'. This is the first time I've ever seen this type of communication right before March.
The email states 'We'll provide an overview on Market Pricing, Geo Zones, TSRs, as well as how to understand your annual compensation statement and your total rewards'.

As predicted AT&T took its tax cut benefit and spent it on M&A and stock buy backs. Despite record cash flow the benefit did not trickle down to the workers. When the proxy comes out you will see record payouts for senior management!!

The invite was embedded in an email that was from Chief Information and Data Office. Seems to be for all levels. It says a max of 3000 can attend. Tech salaries are under heavy assault. Maybe this is limited to those that will be most affected.

As a second level I didn't get this invite. Is this 3rd and above? Or is it to folks who manage employees only?

HR @ AT&T is such a joke. They s— at retaining any kind of good technical talent at least 50% of TDPs leave after 3-4 years here

Maybe we will be told we can buy job security with taking a payout. They havent tried that angle yet.

What does the bonus % look like for 2019? I did the MVO last November and am due for a prorated 2019 bonus so didn't get the employee email about what to expect. Thanks.

this will be HR telling how they are doing a great job and keeping AT&T total Pay in line with all other companies, in fact telling us AT&T is a leader and we should look not just a pay and Bonus but the entire ACS statement on how many discounts and other services that are used to show AT&T total compensation is better.
