I used to really care about my job and my customers. I would not leave a customer's house until I knew that customer was completely satisfied and their services were working perfectly. All the while, I would be stressing trying to keep up with ever increasing efficiency metric requirements and an ever growing list of useless compliance bullsh!t, more and more micromanagement, and ever restrictive job closeout systems ( now we have atlas, the biggest POS ever). I used to run my self ragged and even skip breaks trying to meet impossible demands.

Now I don't care. At all. The h#ll with this company. The h#ll with its abusive management. I still care for my customers, but only up to a point now. I'm now just another burnt out piece of sh!t tech like OP doing everything I can to milk this company dry any way I can. I've never seen another company so effective at turning good, hard working employees into worthless, demoralized pieces of sh!t.

Like 1nrw+13vMjPcC, my time in the Company was a continuing erosion of Spirit. I’m naturally an easy going happy person. I was taught over time by the Company Culture to be obnoxious, aggressive, defensive and suspicious. My Senior Techs passed down their disapproval of any directives from Management. My Union Reps passed down a Militant expectation. Upper Management never listened to the Craft regarding concerns for Employee well being. Only thing Management wanted was faster, faster, faster. I was like 1nrw+13vMjPcC where I only cared about doing it right. I ignored the hard push and always replied with “it’ll get done when it gets done, leave me alone so I can do my job.” As time went on in my long career, all I cared about was to be left alone. The Company doesn’t care about the Employee, either Craft or L1 Supervisor. Above L1, you’re just a number, a pawn on a chess board. To be moved or sacrificed however upper management feels.

OP is right, AT&T is not your typical company, a sh– hole corporation in which the top have zero accountability for their actions.....mk the cow dry, and use your señority to your adventage. I dont see anything wrong here folks

Don’t blame the op; At&t breeds this kind of culture. Craft is unhappy at work, management is unhappy at work; all employees are unhappy except the c-suite. I’m a 25 year tech and I love my actual job and I love my pay and benefits but I hate my company. I really try to help my customers; I get personal satisfaction and joy when I solve a problem and put a smile on a customer’s face. Att doesn’t want techs like me who have high customer satisfaction and retention. Techs who think outside the box and find solutions where others can’t. Oh At&t says they want techs like me in all their att insider videos. Sure. The reality though is they don’t. They just want a tech who meets metrics. Well a good tech won’t meet those metrics all the time without cheating. I refuse to cheat. So I get written up. I don’t blame middle management. They lose their bonuses and /or jobs if they don’t do the bidding of their 2nd or 3rd level. What At&t eventually does is turn a tech like me into a tech like the op. Eventually one gives up. It’s tiresome fighting the system constantly; like a salmon swimming upstream. I’m tired. I’m not a total POS yet like the op; but I’m getting there. Don’t blame me, don’t blame the op. The blame rest solely with the c-suite. They breed the culture of indifference, complacency and cheating with their reward system for metrics. Everyone eventually learns that bare bones average on the metrics is where you want to be if you want to be left alone and keep your job here.

you really stuck it to the man didn't you... that you wasted 40 years of your life being "vengeful"instead of being happy...what a pity of a person you are.

You're the last of the well compensated, union represented workers OP. After you guys are gone, the 'techs of the future', AKA Prem Slaves, and sloppy contractors will be what Randall has in the field.

The union really blew it not bothering to ever represent its Prems during contract time. When the high earners are gone, where does the CWA think its going to get its dues from? From the low wages Prems are paid?

"Good for you...not easy to make it.
I also made it...and I see a lot of jealousy here"

I've made it too. But I am embarrassed (not jealous) for dummies like this.

If I was to wager, I'd say the OP is some laid off troll with about 5 years in with the company.

Really sad that in due time all you will be remembered by is sticking it to the man. Don’t you want more out of life?

"They're" and "their"

As in: "...they're taking their lumps from me".

Bunch of geniuses working here...

Craft rules, management s—s. I've been in management and I've been in craft; Craft is better.

Management: Pay is based on the requirements of the job.
Craft: Pay is based on the hours spent on the job.

Management is burdened with the accountability of results but is deficient in the capability of getting these results; Management depends on craft to get the job done. This puts power in the hands of craft.

Lol. Delusional OP doesn’t realize he’s wasting his life away at AT&T.

1) He must not have a life outside of work. Sure the annual income is nice but... you’re spending your life away at work instead of with family.

2) That record lump sum is mostly stagnant instead of earning you money in the market.
