From the AT&T Medicare-Eligible Health Reimbursement Account Program - Page 13
"Any HRA Account Balance at the end of the Plan Year will remain in your HRA in the following year."

The $2700 allowance applies only for the year offered. T deducts it from taxes so they get a benefit. and it enables them to keep at least some of those 500,000+ retirees as customers, which generates money for the company again deferring the expense.

Appears that the company is on track to offer medicare eligible a supplement plan thru the company instead of the HRA account to pay for choices. As long as that plan is no cost to retiree, I don't see a problem with it, however knowing AT&T it will have some cost to it, in deductibles or co-pay;s. It's all about the money and retiree's cost the company lots of money in the $7+B healthcare budget.

Any unused $2,700 or $4,200 (married couples) for a given year rolls over into the following year(s).

"Pretty sure if you don’t use it, you lose it each year."
Nope - rolls over. Can be used to defray Medicare B premiums, Med advantage premiums, Medigap premiums, Dental, Vision, Medical deductibles and copay.
Right now I have $0/month Med Advantage - includes $1000 dental and vision. Also includes one free annual physical exam. So, I'm hoping to confine expenses to Medicare B premiums, and around $200 miscellaneous for this year. We'll see.

They are going to offer an AT&T Medicare advantage plan "option" starting in 2021. The AON HRA is only guaranteed thru 2023.

It’s not “Medicare reimbursement”. It’s an allowance of $2700 per year that can be used to pay for doctor bills that are not covered, co-pays, out of pocket, deductibles, and you can use it toward paying Medicare premiums. Pretty sure if you don’t use it, you lose it each year. You don’t lose Medicare.

You should reach out to benefits and/or HR to find out if AT&T will offer a replacement benefit and the effective date. This is a valid concern for those consider retiring in 2020 or after. Wishing everyone the best.

No one knows and no one cares. This is a layoff thread. Not a what if and maybe thread for retirees. Post those questions on Facebook.

I don't have a big fuzzy feeling for all of the retirees with Cadillac "I pay nothing" medical coverage. I am sorry, but you need to feel some pain with the rest of us.

Yes It makes me wonder why I am going to retire this year to keep my medicare B benefit, if I am going to eventually lose it.
