Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Received my notice today

Received my notice today. Would have to relocate by 10/31. Decision needs to be made by April if I will take the offer. People are already being notified and some of Saul's directs have exceptions for their org for this year.

Severance is two weeks for every year. One year severance max. That’s a great deal why put it so glumly like it’s torture... heck torture me!

Severance is two weeks for every year. One year severance max. This is such a shame. WF doesn't even have good retirement benefits anymore so you can't even go that route.

This relocation strategy is malarkey - disingenous and cheapskate way to boost voluntary quit rate.

Take your severance and leave. Wells laid me off in September. I now have a much better job in a much healthier workplace making almost double what wells paid me. I’m kicking myself for not leaving years ago.

Saul just sent out an email announcing this, in order to be "transparent".

Hey, if you have to relocate to Charlotte, NC when you find a place to live do note that the traffic situation around Charlotte, NC is REALLY bad. If you try to rent, or buy in the city of Charlotte the prices are sky high. Further out in the suburbs, somewhat more affordable, can get you a round trip car commute of between 2 - 3 hours. The main 485 highway is like a parking lot during rush hour traffic, at a total stand still during rainy weather. More people keep moving to Charlotte every year and the car traffic just keeps getting worse, and worse.

If you can possibly work it, don’t move. Take a studio apartment in Charlotte and go home on weekends.

Not ideal, but if the job in Charlotte doesn’t work out or you just hate it you will not have uprooted your life for nothing.

Without naming names, what org. are you in? Developer, Infrastructure, Cyber, Risk, etc. What locations were you given as an option? Any of that information would he 100 times more valuable than anything we have heard directly from leadership.

Most of the people targeted are remote workers. Funny thing is they ask you to move to a hub and go into an office but everyone that is currently located in that hub that is remote can continue to work remote for the indefinite future.

From a branch banker point of view I can see how it seems like our IT guys s—...it’s because our branch technology s—s.

However our mobile app is top notch and after years of thinking I have concluded that Wells Fargo’s genius plan is that they want the branch technology to s— so that customers have less then good experiences and revert to the mobile app which allows us to close branches faster

In conclusion... branch technology s—s by design but I don’t think it’s ITs fault

If you don’t accept the relocation you do get severance starting sometime in 4th quarter when you receive your displacement notice. Notice today is only relocation - your job is moving notice.

I was given my relocation and was told my only city I could relocate to was to Charlotte. I have to April to decide and be in that city by 10/31. $13k was given for relocation. Displacement would start early 4th quarter and then I would be given severance package.

This is a pretty c-appy thing Wells is doing to all these employees.

680 people in all 50 states were given a relocation notice today.

They all know who they are, we have been asked not to inquire and allow them to adjust on their own.

Good luck to all, I hope things work out.
