Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Pay Raise or lack of

My team was notified today that we will be going over our yearly evals and told what our pay increases are but our Director told us to not expect much if any this year. Has anyone heard of them not giving pay raises this year? He said just because AT&T looks like it’s doing well doesn’t mean that’ll reflect pay!!! WTH. I work my A$$ off and to hear that really ticks me.

You and your coworkers can all have a pay raise if you decide which one of you will fall on the sword and leave the company.

You just learned a valuable lesson. Just do the minimum to stay in the middle.

"...but our Director told us to not expect much..."

OK. So don't expect much from us. Fair deal. (I'd write more but have to take one of these "don't expect much" breaks now...)

You're lucky, In the past 5-7 years I've seen .5 - 1% per year.

I’ve averaged between 3 - 6% annually for the past 9 years. I’m in AT&T Consumer and heard the same thing.

The pay raises were decided long before performance reviews were written. At best being a shining start might get 1% above average which is about 2% depending on your organization. Remember too that many organizations got budget cuts and employee expense is the largest expense in many organizations. It also matters where you fall in the targeted salary range. If you are above the median expect your raise to be decreased no matter your performance rating. Connect the dots. AT&T's methods of compensation do not correlate performance.

No surprise there. In my 22yr Management career as a Field Supervisor, I’ve ranged 11% in my first year to 0% in my last year. I had a 40yr career Surplus’d at 60yrs old. My advice, don’t overwork yourself, nobody cares and you’ll never be compensated for those lost years in your life.

This has been going on more-or-less forever, this is not new news. Only the friends and family, and inner circle get anything meaningful, as in L3/4 and up. You, L1/2, can go get bent and keep eating tuna fish straight out of the can, as the raises are the elites and need to be able to pay for their chilean sea bass dinners.

My bet is the budget is in the 1.75-2.0% range. Which means that is spread across all below Director level. The a– s—s will get more than the slackers. Lots of years with less than 2% and i was in the middle of the performers.

It only effect pay for us in the trenches. Ratty and Stinky will be getting their normal big bucks for their job so well done with their winning strategies.
