If you were the CEO of the company, what would be TWO top things you'd change here?

If I am a new CEO,I will fire Stankey and ask the SEC and the Feds to investigate Randal, Stankey, Donovan and other key senior leaders for mismanagement and potential financial crimes. Get rid of the poor acquisitions (DTV first), and not focus on video streaming. Invest in true broadband expansion and 5G. The money wasted on c-appy acquisitions could have been used for FTTH expansion and AT&T would have been in a much greater shape. I would hire a new talented leadership team from the outside and fire all of Randal and Stankey's minions. Treat employees with respect and make AT&T what it represented back in the old times; an innovative, forward-looking company that contributed significantly to the change world we live today - attract the best and brightest folks to make AT&T what it used to be!
I'd cash out
My panties.
Hit the cash out button and be gone.
First, I would fire Stanky and have security march him out the door. Then I'd do the same with myself.
That would solve most of AT&T's problems right there!
Drain the Swamp...
Stop treating my employees as expenses, and more like assets.
Eliminate the “entertainment” portion of the company.
Build the pipes that deliver the entertainment, air interface and fiber.
Stop saying everything will be a cloud based environment and you will not be in the equipment business after 2020. Randy the cloud doesn’t mean it actually works in the white fluffy things in the sky. You will still need to run server farms... that means equipment, it is a necessary expense.
1) nation wide fiber buildout
2) Hire a CTO who makes the big tech companies jealous
Outsource some of the lame support staff.
agree 100%
- focus on building the internet pipes nationwide
Sine you have not yet received an intelligent answer I’ll give it a shot.
1) don’t get into streaming. It’s a commodity and you won’t make any money as it’s a race to the bottom. Plus there are already established players out there like Hulu, amazon and Netflix.
2) focus on building the internet pipes nationwide. All the streaming companies depend on high speed pipes to send content to their customers. There really is only one nationwide company. Comcast.
True
get rid of all the groups that impede progress
@qqh+13sMNh4C, I like the positive attitude and you have a very good point. The sad truth is nobody would ever subscribe to that mindset. Unfortunately the culture would takes years to change.
get rid of all the groups that impede progress. get rid of the many layers of management that overlap other groups. basically streamline everything and make it a mean lean fighting machine against the competition.
Get out of the telecommunications business.
I'd look in the mirror, consider my accomplishments, realize I'm a failure, pack my golden parachute, then resign in embarrassment.
I would cut off my wedding tackle
I'd fire myself
