Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I've done forensic accounting about five years ago, never regretted it. Definitive a growing field.

Working at WF is like being a h–ker. No one sets out to be a h–ker. You just end up there when nothing else works out and you need money.

We're here for the paycheck at this point. The idea of a 'career' was beaten out of us when we were shut down, shut out, and shut up. If you decide to try WF, leave your logic, aspirations, voice, and soul at the door. Those are liabilities here.

On the upside, it's a paycheck and you'll meet wonderful people with whom you can commiserate. Good luck.

Take classes in forensic accounting. That is a career path that is expanding.

I suggest don't get or study to get into the financial services industry keep your options open. Studying business is one thing but no bank or financial services is a good place to work.

Avoid this horrendous Dumpster-Fire, every chance you can.........

This company is a joke and I see more employees filing lawsuits in the future.

This forum is a little negative because it's a website to share information about people losing their jobs.

I would not start a career here if I had other options. This is not a stable company right now.

And I don't think any of us have long term prospects right now, there are discussions about more layoffs this year, maybe not en masse, more stealthy.

All that said, starting your finance career at a known criminal organization may not be wise.

2 years max. get some experience and jet. if you can, do something that fuses finance and technology, that seems to be a good career-path nowadays

Honestly, wf is displacing so many people that if you got hired then it would only be as a short term fill in. I think the goal is to get the longer tenured employees to quit with stress and fill in the positions with short term employees that don’t receive the same severance package when we go online only. In other words I would take it for a year or less internship with the goal to bolt only if you don’t have other options but this may be industry standard not just a wf thing. Good luck

There are so many financial institutions of all types in this country - from old establishment firms to fin tech disrupters. Why would you even consider the one with one of the worst reputations in the industry?

At least try to begin your career at a place you can be proud to have on your resume. You’re just starting out. Why start at the bottom? People will wonder why you couldn’t do better.

A layoff forum isn’t the best place to get the best advice....although if I could do it all over again I would stay out of the large corporations altogether. I’m 58 and have been employed in banking insurance and tech industry....Seems like that might be your destiny anyways almost as if you smell a hidden rat. Best of luck to you

But do not stay here longer than two full years, you will get hurt career-wise

You are a perfect candidate to be Head of Compliance. They just got rid of a bunch of seasoned professionals who truely cared for clients and the client experience. They are currently looking for fresh faces that that they can control and not ask any questions. You will probably be made CCO.
