Why does the Company do this every year? Make the management sweat it out 'till the last minute wondering what their bonuses will be. What does the Company get out if this behavior? Rude bosses, knee jerk reactions, dying systems that no one in IT knows how to fix or maintain. Is it the same, or worse, at other companies?

A+ on this posting thread, lot of useful info on this one. Thanks.
What is going on ? Today is Friday nothing came out.
I’ve always received over 100%, except for one year.
You don’t seem to understand a basic principle of Verizon culture.
F— the employees.
Does that explain things for you?
This will be the first year they set funds aside for leading performers - in prior years in order to give them over 100% of their STI target, it was taken from other employees.
@zes+13ne7KDu is exactly correct.
And to the OP, be happy you even get a bonus. Many companies are eliminating them. Go look at some of the other boards here.
All employees eligible for STI get it at the same time. In the 2/21 paycheck.
The STI for “P” is between 75-105% of target. They simply do not give enough bucket for all to get 100%. Nobody is going to get a 75 of course unless they quit and I agree it is nonsense. If you work for a fair manager and you are doing well, you’re getting shafted at 90% but remember they are grading everyone across the organization at a director level at least so if they consider you low or mid performing that is likely the reason for your low number. I’m not saying its fair but I know firsthand how it works
Does management get their STI info at the same time as regular employees or later than they do?
Im not sure complaining about when it's released is that good.
What should be discussed is how Verizon STI communications play hide the ball with every employees amount. Without discussing it, each year I've gotten only 90-95% of the full STI award. Quietly, it's apparent Verizon is taking $ from most of us to give to management favorites. If you are performing you should get 100% of the bonus amount, not any less with zero discussion of why. People who deserve more bonus should be paid with additional bonus funds, not reducing everyone else's.
OP you shouldn't be in management if you have no idea how the decision is made. The decision isn't up to the executives at Verizon, it is up to the Board of Directors with input from the CEO. It works this way at every company that offers STI and has a board. You find out as soon as the executives at Verizon find out. I do not understand why you are sweating it when the rest of us understand how it works. Look beyond your bank account, it will alleviate a lot of the stressing you put yourself through.
worse, be happy to get a bonus and know it is the same time every year. you could flounder and wonder if you get a raise or bonus and even the timing you get it like other companies. chin up
