For the past 5 years or so, states have been converting from WIC paper checks to electronic WIC (eWIC), with EBT cards. When your site lost the WIC checks, did you encounter any layoffs and/or cut hours for your check processing people? And roughly what percent of your check volume did you lose?
The reason I ask is our state is one of the last to go to the eWIC system. It should be by middle or 3rd quarter of this year (the Fed deadline is Oct 1). When we do lose our WIC checks, that will be, in my estimate, about 60% - 70% of lost check volume. With that in mind, I expect at least cut work hours, if not actual layoffs.
Thanks!
