Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Live like there is no tomorrow

Travel the world across many continents, buy ultimate pad in new construction master planned development and pay it down, only buy new cars. And when it all comes crashing down, at least you can say that you have lived it up! Danger is real, fear is a choice!

The economy is nothing more than garbage in garbage out. You have money that is based on nothing you have garbage in.

well you get all these symptoms because we have an economy built on fiat money and we are not printing constitutional money that is actually backed by anything. so what you are describing are symptoms of the system that is in place. the last president that printed money backed by anything was jfk and look what happened to him.

I am a Dave Ramsey guy. I am not going to do that. Live on less than what you make. Pay off all debt. Build an emergency fund of 3-6 months expenses. No new cars, a car payment is just a complete waste. Save for your retirement and pay down your mortgage aggressively. This stuff used to all sort of be common sense, but most of society has lost their way in this regard.

I see lots of examples of this in the town where I live. People upside down on their vehicles, up to their necks in credit card debt, and living in oversized mortgages that keep them in a nonstop state of fear. Many treat their home equity as an ATM and get in even deeper. They live paycheck to paycheck and have a bitterness you can see. They probably have a lot of marital fights over money and lose their fair share of restful sleep.

Fear is a choice. Most of us can agree on that. But true peace of mind comes from being prepared, not from ignoring reality.

This reminds me of the updated version of the ant and the grasshopper story that got passed around the Internet recently.
