I agree with the previous statement about project management and product owners writing bad requirements. When DTV Now launches it was awful. Missed requirements all over the place and can you believe a lot of them either left the company to get promotions elsewhere or the my got promoted internally here!! Classic AT&T move, a lot of hype with no solid delivery. Great example is what they are doing today with 5G. They are basically using the same marketing when LTE was supposed to change the world.
As usual att is ten years+ behind everything. Hey but their cutting edge is putting scripts on the nas so they can run on all the boxes - genius. All the talent that is making their worth and getting things done are at other companies doing it instead of getting caught up in the political games at this cesspool.
What Ratty and all the other mismanagement forgot is that they outsources stuff years ago and mass groups of employees were off-shored and the results were horrible, and it was more expensive. They later brought the work back.
What is different now is:
- The wrote deals worth billions to MS, IBM, Accenture and Tech Mahindra as part of their edge computer services strategy so they could immediately book the revenue against their billions in debt they create with their TW fiasco.
- They discovered they could rebadge thousands of employees to those companies and not have to pay the former employees a dime of severance! More $ for Ratty and Stinky to run around and play movie mogul.
Ratty and other others will be long gone and cashed out when all the software fails and they have to pay to fix it and have to pull the work back.
I was only peripherally involved with the last two variations of AT&T video streaming services and can absolutely state that if the same development team, project management, and business product owners are involved that it is a going to be a absolute mess from a testing and launch standpoint.
Poorly written requirements that are poorly implemented will be piecemeal tested in a half baked test environment before being thrown into production for a final quick test only to realize half of the functionality doesn't work in the real world.
Add in outsourcing of key players, general apathy from those still around due to layoff fears, and you have the perfect recipe for a fun launch!
And yet they fall all over themselves worshipping the cheap foreign labor. You get what you pay for.
